Damn... This guy has skill.

Stumbled into this today. Spent the time to read all of it. Fuck, that's some awesome skill.

That can't be handmade. Looks so animated by computer.

Heavyporker
27-06-06, 01:44
Not animated. You mean rendered.

Yeah, it is rendered by computer.

My point is that it's FANTASTICALLY done! I mean, geez, usually people (read: amateurs) do such a crappy job. It's like even before you see their pictures you know it's computer rendered. Comes nowhere close to realism or artistic.

This guy... this guy has skill.

Actually, the rendering quality isn't that great, and in a ddition, all he has to do is place the models and capture them. The amount of skill displayed comapred to a lot of webcomics is kinda low. More time spent than talent.

Ugh... typos.... me too drunk....

Koshinn

It's quite obviously 3d rendered.

It's not that bad, but DJ is right.. it often takes a lot more skill to hand draw something. Unless he made all the models himself, in which case I'd say he's professional... but I highly doubt he made any of the models, it's so easy now days to just download premade stuff online and/or buy them at a small cost.

Actually, from digging around the website, the guy works for an animation studio, so, he's a pro or works with pros.

But in any case, what's wrong with you guys?

Look at the modeling/rigging. That's very well done. Not to mention the rendering is very pleasant, rather artistic. Call me nutty, but this webcomic is a *long way* from the 3d rendered webcomics I saw in the past.

Not to mention I quite enjoy the story.

And, anyways, there's like a bajillion hand-drawn and computer-finished art/webcomic sites out there.

I thought you guys would enjoy something unique.

omg dunno if its well done, but it looks so shitty

Yeah, er, rigging, posing and rendering isn't exactly that hard dude. Nor is framing and text addition. Seeing as you can BUY that ogre model from various sites, I'm not entirely convinced everything is his own work.

Less skill involved in 3d renderings than there is in contemp-art, period.

you guy are sutch a moron :P

i have study computer in Boreal (in ottawa, sudbury) and belive me, it realy hard to do shit like that (i only think to 3DMAX who have giving me white hair for 4 month)

she even show me how to do it (how to spend 4 free houres of a day stick to the person you love :P) and it quite long.

one day i will show you some anymation (i need her autorisation first:P) of some dragoon she have draw, some are even animated (a nude girl on a back of a dragon FANTASTIC)

Yeah. It's piss easy. Tedious, but easy.

Yeah. If you've seen my work, you'd know that I know what I'm talking about.
I wouldn't have bothered if I didn't know what I was doing. BTW - With inverse kinematics, and all the rigging helpers you have these days, even arranging poses is a piece of piss. You make the pose once, you save it, you apply it when you need it.

You can see a fuckton of frames where the poses are recycled. Shut yer mouth.

yeah, had a gander a while back. Pretty humourous. :)

You don't always need great graphics to have a good piece of work.

I'll see your noob and raise you the Perry Bible Fellowship (http://70.86.201.113/imageserv2/stilltemporary/index.html).

Oh ho. So its like that is it?
Sexy Losers (http://www.sexylosers.com) - World famous, but very grafic at times and certainly not one of the easily offended.
Dinosaur Comics (http://www.qwantz.com/) - There is one piece of art. Several years worth of comics.

Some people here play RPGs huh? Some even don't? Try Goblins (http://thunt.comicgen.com/) for a funny, interestingly drawn and occasinaly touching tale

Learn your religous history with The Bibble (http://www.holybibble.net/)

Liked Sexy Losers but annoyed that it doesn't update any more? Uncle Ghastly (http://www.ghastlycomic.com/) has something similar still going.

Like a touch of epic in your webcomics? Demonology 101 (http://faith.rydia.net/) is both that and oddly cutesy at the same time, while Indefensible Positions (http://indepos.comicgenesis.com/) mixes themes expressed graphically and a degree of pretentiousness with its ongoing story, while the complete Exploitation Now (http://exploitationnow.com/
) makes the transition from gag comic to epic tale with gags.

Finally, want to see a comic that isn't so much a comic as a gargantuan experiment in world building, political science, alternative history and socio-economic study along with story tellling? Thought not, but for those who do like me, there is The Midlands (http://www.themidlands.net/
)

Not sure any of those quite touches the warped genius that is PBF mind, except perhaps Sexy Losers. Still, theres some choice cuts from my bookmarks.

30-06-06, 04:23
Damn, Cmaster. I'm almost embarassed by how many I instantly recalled. Sexy Losers really wasn't something I would bring up in polite conversation, but damn, it kicked ass. Especially with the wanker storyline and the necrophiliac, haw haw haw!.

Anyways, I'm shocked no one bought up Freefall (used to be on Purrsia or something), PVPonline (The Charles Schulz of webcomics, probably. That moniker fits so well).

Guys, you simply have to take a look at Return to Sender. I really liked it but it stopped updating so long ago.

I could go on and on.. but I shouldn't. *groans*. You wouldn't believe how nuts I am about webcomics.

I deliberatley didn't link to any gaming webcomics because well, none of them are at all consistent. Penny Arcade used tp be funny - digging back through the archives I'll have a laugh, but not from a recent one in years. Ctrl-alt-del as far as I can tell was NEVER funny, nor will it ever be. VGCats is probably the most consistent of the lot, if only because it hasn't degenerated into "oh, look at our wacky life". Press Start to Play startedout good, but lost its way about 40 runs in.

PvP I've never been able to get into.
Return To Sender - I liked it, but it felt like it stopped updating before it actually got going proprly.

I think "Freefall" (and the one in the OP) are the only webcomics here so far I havent heard of or read.

Oh, and Sexy Losers definatley isnt polite, but if you are discussing awesome webcomics, how can it be ignored - especially as it is acredited with bringiing the term "fap" into regualr usage on the net.

Meh, gaming comics get most of the 'chuckle factor' from familiarity with the subject on the viewer's part. Since I can relate to most of the issues, I do get a little amusement from them. Days like these, I need all the chuckles I can get.

You know, I'm suprised you haven't bought up gucomics.

Oh, and for the other guy that bought up noobcomic, I counter with Order of the Stick. It's only right.

You know, it's a tremendous shame that the artist of Sexy Losers couldn't continue. But at least he ended on a nice note with Jalton Oliveoil. Ha ha ha!

I should bring up Postnuke. I don't care what anyone says. I love that guy and his dog with a gasmask wandering around in a post-apoc wasteland. Dog with a gasmask! How anyone couldn't love that, I don't know!

Pretty much anything by dayfree press is good stuff. And as for snooty? Nah :p I just thought someone was calling me up on something, so said my piece.

It's nice to see times are changing. It used to be the time when people would read the funnies in the papers, and not think twice, but people reading comics were nerds. Then the webcomic came out, still nerdy, lots a manga, lots a gore/big tits/polkadots/whatever. Not saying thats a bad thing, but it still ain't my cuppa tea.

Now this new batch of webcomics, thats my cup of tea, good writing, and that's all ya need. You'd get as much fulfilment out of reading these as an satirist mag, and that's how I like em. I like funny, I like satire, and I like the slightly alternative.

www.questionablecontent.net

Good art ( sketchy in the first few eps ) And some good humour.

I'm more interested in having a chuckle, and reading something mentally stimulating, than fantasy/violence webs, but it's really all about personal taste. :)
