I bought this just a few months ago so the prices may be lower now, $600 budget, all from www.Newegg.com , no monitor though, using my old one.

I get good framerates in UT2004, Neocron, and Battlefield 2, but i always set the details/visual effects at their lowest settings with the resolution at 1152x864x16 and fog/visual distance at max, just the way I like it, dont need all those pretty things distracting me ;)

600 USD = aprox 329.598 GBP http://www.x-rates.com/calculator.html
With a lcd monitor added to the list the price may be around your 450pounds(dont know how to do that symbol)

You should probably specify what it's going to be used for other than just "Home Desktop". If it's Gaming you're after you won't be able to get the latest of hardware that the upcoming generation of games will be designed and created for with only $450. The recent GeForce 7900 series card from nVidia costs between £200 and £400 alone (depending on the specs and model) at current retail prices, the 7950 (basically the 7900 on steroids) being even higher priced.

In other words you're asking if we're going to travel to and land on the Moon, when you really mean to land on Saturn. Big differences in hardware and resources for either journey. :p

Keep in mind that Newegg to <insert UK retailer here> may not work with respect to the exchange rate as pricing on components may be closer to "the same" numerically - see the price of the XBOX in the UK vs here in the USA. You can buy an XBOX non-core with game from Game for $319 GBP. In USD, that's $580. Last I checked, a Premium console with a single game in the USA went for $459. Depending on where you buy it, it'll be anywhere from $459 shipped to $500, depending on sales tax and shipping. That's an $80 to $121 USD difference.

Nvidia dude, you'll be a lot happier compatibility wise. Coverage for ATI, even on some popular games/apps is sometimes patchy.

As for VAT - see if you can just get the VAT stuck on a bulk order. One 17.5% charge is cheaper than several.

17.5% of each item(once totalled) and 17.5% of the whole, will still equal the same quantity...

NOT RLY, It will be slighty less due to the fact, if VAT is 11.15 pence, it would charge 1.2pence each, (round up) so 2.4pence for 2. , But if its as a bulk 17.5% would be 22.3pence.

So not really worth the trouble, but lol

Hrrm... I don't really belive thats the real issue here.

I think we all know the most pressing, and relevant issue is the fact that I was right :p

But, there is no option to pay VAT as a whole.

(Although ig buying X amount of Same item, its on the Total for that product)

seriously, WTF?
1.175(A+B+C) = 1.175A + 1.175B + 1.175C
Sure, if they round at some early stage in the process, you can get some difference because of rounding errors. But the likleyhood is that with all online ordering and such that accurate values are used throughout and you just see the rounded total to pay. (Always rounded UP of course)

erm a x1300 card with 512 MB ram is more or less useless, better go for something like an x1600 pro which is way better for gaming and are still cheap. or mebbe something like a 6600gt. but the low end of the spectrum is never ment to be used for games, no matter how much ram they possess

They do however burn very well.
