View Full Version : This could be silly, but...
When I was on vacation, I found a Neocron disk for $.99 at a discout store. I've been hearing things about Neocron in passing (both good and bad). So, I decided to pick it up.
Well, I've come to the website to find Neocron 2.1.
Now, this is my question:
Is any of that disk still good? Can I install the disk, then patch up to the new build? And if so, will the 30 days that come with it still count?
Any help would be appreciated.

if i remember correctly u cant use neocron 1 disk any more nor can u use the 30 day trial,
u could probably pick the disk (2.1) up for like $2 anyway from ebay or summit
alternativly download it from the main site and enter your credit card details and u get 10 days free trial

Neocron 1 is no longer compatible with...well..anything. you have to either A) Download it from the 2.1 website or B) Go find a 2.1 disc from somewhere.
You can still use the Neocron 2 disk as well (2.0) but the patching will take longer.
Ah well. Guess i'll have to do it the hard way (on a wlan connection). Thanks. Join you all in about a week, lol.
I have another question. Is there a place to get acquainted with the new storyline? I read the manual for the original Neocron and was pulled in by the story.
Is there a place to read about the events up to this point so that I know what is going on in the game?
The neocronicle (http://neocronicle.com/) would be a good place to start.
Also, once you've got yourself a game account you can tie that that to your forum account, which will give you access to some other forums that you can't see at the moment. They'll give you a better idea idea about what's going on in-game too.
Also check the voice of the resistance (http://www.votr-mag.com/)

You could also check the main site (http://ng.neocron.com/index.php?id=34/)
THe "neocron 2" manual is wildley innaccurate in many places, but it does provide the storyline between NC1 and NC2 (as well as all prior to that). Its availble on the website, or in dead tree form in the NC2 box.
The aforementioned news pages are good also.
If you just want the storyline from the manual, just follow this little link to the THN (http://www.techhaven.org/content/view/36/38/). ;)
Just one more question.
What are the prices if I decide to join? Is there an account creation fee? And how much per month is it?
I'm sorry to be so annoying... :(
The current subscription fees for Neocron 2 are:
1 month for €12.95
3 month for €29.95
6 month for €49.95
Of course you can create a 10-day trial account first to get a picture of the game before you make your final decision. More information about this can be obtained from our product website under http://www.neocron.com
You will also be charged some money if you download the 10 day trial, and continue after day 11. I think it is 29.95 USD or something like that.
The price you pay includes another 18 days free time.
What is the subscrition fee in USD? Is it the typical 15 USD of almost all MMOs?

North America (no VAT there):
1 month for €11.16
3 month for €25.82
6 month for €43.06
http://xe.com/ will give you the closest estimate as it's based on the daily exchange rate and what your credit card charges.
11.16 EUR Euro = 14.3253 USD nited States Dollars according to the search I just ran.

As Odin implies - there isn't a few in US dollars. Its charged in euros, not USD, GBP or anything else. Use XE.com or google or any other currency converter to work it out approximatley - but what you pay each time will change bsaed on current exchange rates. Also, the liscence purchase is kinda expensive - somewhere between €25-30 I think, and its somewhat hidden. If you can, buy a box from somewhere instead.
I would advice you to download and play the 10 days, then cancel your account.
If you still like the game (Like we hope you will) find it at an online store for a lot cheaper than the download price, that way you will have the CD's the manual for NC2, maps(?) and whatnot in the case.
Hope you stick around.

You all have been a great help. I really appreciate all of it :) I have it downloaded, but I used the WinRAR files. So....
Now I have to figure out where they downloaded too. Silly Firefox.
But when I get it up and running, I hope I like it too.
See you in game maybe! :)
And again, thanks for all the help.
