I've always thought about this and I've finally found an article where someones actually tried it, entertaining results.

Interesting. i thought this was another spam thread, but this is actually quite interesting. maybe we should fill all our PCs into oil, maybe Fatals in Memory-chomping NC will stop. ;)

There are actualy alot of articles on submerging pc's into non conductive liquids. First one ive seen with cooking oil though.

Well thats certainly different. At least if you get hungry while playing Neo you can open the top of your case and put some chips in to cook. :p

lol, Ya, thought about this 6 months ago when i saw that a TV worked when dipped in oil.
Problem being though, you cant have any dust in the oil or any other contaminates apparently, not that i think ill ever try it anyways.

I liked the one where they put tinfoil on the cpu and baked an egg.
Putting cooking/veg oil in your pc case is just stupid though.

There's also an insulative spray you can get which you can use to protect electronic equipment. A UK TV program used it to insulate a plasma screen telly, they then put the thing in a fish tank and it worked fine :p.

Yep, it sounds crazy but it works! Just leave your PSU and hard drives out of the oil.
Shame today's PCs run too cold to be used as deep friers.

No amount of cooling will let you do that :-)

The only thing that kept me from trying it is apparently your whole room smells like frying oil and you need to leave it open for ventilation........

So, come this sumer i'll do as i allways did, aim the portable airconditioning unit at my computercase and keep on running my aircooled amd2500+ at a steady 2500mhz.

I might try frying an egg on my CPU to be honest. Would have to be a Quail egg though, a chicken egg wouldn't really fit. ;)

Hey, at least now one can be certain a PC can fry potatoes guaranteed :p even if it crashes, potatoes will still cook

One of my mates did this with an old computer that he had hanging around the place. It'd take quite some balls to do it with a top end system though.... Imagine the moment where you start submerging your £1000 Processor + Mobo + Graphics + RAM into liquid... urgh.
