Out of the people I've faught theres only one ive never been able to beat and thats Smurf, so I guess him.

He's got the same skill when he plays his tank with Rex Condo. They both never been able to beat me on xbow, but Smurf did beat me using a devourer once. So indeed in Tankies I vote Rex Condo, and where is he btw?

Last time i can remember (and maybe some FF can aswell) we had a few duels at cycrow some night and i won all of em. :)

I remember being on vent with mayhemike pvp'ing in pp1 and smokey came back (they were flat mates/freinds for those who dont know) and smokey said I was a good tank in the back ground *heart swells with pride*

I'm definitely not the best pe. I'm good at hunting people and somehow using the fact that i'm way outnumbered to my advantage, but i'm not a good dueler.

I think Smurf is the best, then there's a handfull of realy good pes, of which most were in Fetish at one point. My personal favorite pes to fight were allways fireproof, Jini and average joe. In fact i think they are the ones that taught me the most. First time i met fireproof was back in nc1, i was a noob and he instantly let me borrow a moveon. First time i met Jini he was being his cocky self using a tl92 and we had some realy good fights when i raided crp.
First time i met Average Joe was when he used to allied gank me over and over and over ..... Boy he used to work me up real good lol.

I left uranus shortly after Dj left the game but me and you used to have some good fights when you where on your tank I think?

still remember fighting the tank carebear on uranus at one of xantor's fightnights, it was one of the best (and closest, won with 7 hp) duels i've ever had.

DG used to do about 34 a swipe and pob around 49 if I remember correctly from when REMUS was a hybrid back in the day, killed genty a 'rifle' ppu with a pob before it was uberised.

Before the melee boost i had a melee tank, canadian cripple. I was probably the worst melee tank ever but i realy enjoyed playing a class noone ever did. PA-less DG tank who for some reason had about 150hp less then any other tank. I didnt play around with setups back then, went pure resists basicly. Almost as if resists where changed in nc2 becouse i swear i did very well with low hp guys in nc1. My 350hp ROG pe took a ton of shots to kill.

One thing i definitly remember was actualy winning most of my duels. Has anyone else noticed that the nc2 community seem to be getting alot better at pvp? I mean we had 6 pe's in NF last night and not one of them was noobish. One was average and the rest where very close. I know i used to want a challenge but seriously, i like to win duels more often. I used to have a reputation to uphold, now im the pvp has been basicly..... Maybe im just becoming a noob. :o

a NON carebear pvp system in which:
a. you go out getting killed, you lose your 5slot uber weapon. Since only 5+ slots is acceptable you need to start chain building untill you build that again.

If the above describes a non carebear system, then Im the biggest carebear ingame.

well, this is how the game should have been played.
Anyway, slots still mean nothing and so do stats or setups. Like I say we all know how resists/armor work and small mistakes are NOT important. People are trying for the BEST setup possible or for the BEST gun, but they lose valuable time investing in what's really important and this is aim/moving. I used to say that skill account for 80% in nc, while I give 10% in setups and another 10% in good pcs. Now NC was designed 5 years back when pcs were 10 times slower, so every pc is now new and therefore good, so there goes this 10%. We are all old vets already and know how to setup a char, so there goes the other 10%. What's left therefore is 90% skill and another 10% which is a newly introduced factor the netlag/clipping which i guess is with us because speed is advanced from people using latest pcs and so nc cant cope anymore


so make sure you cap a tl115 weapon that is all 94% :p

the fact that it took them so long to make the few things that nc2 added should have indicated that they didn't have the resources to pull it off. The only half decent reason for making it was that everyone was whining about them not giving them their second city that they promised they would make. All it would take is a simple announcement thread saying that they have to break the promise.

I loved NC1, but it was the players (and certain game dynamics) that made it what it special. NC1 in it's heyday had lots of them (and hay don't forget the bugs). And back then people were always going on about how great the betas were and if only we could go back to beta [insert random number depicting leet vetness].

I think, and you may laugh at me here, that despite the many bugs and annoyances, it is the marketing and commercial handling of this game that has been the biggest letdown for me.

(1) It is a solid and infamously addictive and still fairly unique genre game that has an insanely un-user friendly and Everest-steep learning curve.

(2) It has, for reasons I can only guess at, been undermarketed, single region released (NC2) and never broken out of it's cult status. Only rarely has this seemed to bother Reakktor and even rarer was there any noise about a marketing push - what happened with No More Elves? o_O Humorous...but effective?

I was always surprised by how little information is/was available to a brand new player (often a newcomer to MMORPGs, as I was). Let's face it the manual was minimal - and for a game like this you could cut clear out a respectable bit of Brazild to cover a decent amount of ground.

There were no 'welcome to the community' emails, talking you through how you should:

a) join the forums and tie your account so you could post - this being a very useful resource for a new runner - you'd be surprised how many people never even made it onto here - because they didn't know...

b) A list of fansites and resource sites (since the official page never had anything useful to offer in this area.

c) I need to go to sleep.

TLDR: NC1 rocked but was on it's deathbed months before NC2; NC2 improved and expanded many areas, messed with many dynamics that alienated a lot of old timers, never delivered to the (unreasonably?) massive expectations of the community.

The evo 2.1 release and the 14 day trial for vets could have been a succes, if they had thoroughly tested the patch and if they had done some ballancing and bugfixes beforehand.

Now they wasted their shot at the 14 day free trial, as your credibility drops every time you do it and it fails.

Now if the players and KK can pull this ballancing thing off, then they should work on bugfixing for two months, even ALL the small annoying bugs people have listed for years. If some bugs can't be fixed or the database inconsistencies when writing/reading (we all know that happens in all databases) then they should at least say "this bug can't be fixed".

When all that is done, start a massive campaing and give old players a free month.

Maybe a this point we are, its better to add some more content along with the balancing, maybe remodel nc1 chars to fit the new "improved" graphics, certainly fix most Bugs (particularly the email spam thingy jesus...!!! :mad: ) and find a decent way to pay for this thing. Then give it a shot trying to lure old players back. The more time they lose the worst this gets.

and if u ask old vets what they liked more, nc1 or nc2 i bet almost everyone would like to have nc1 and its people back.

Whats dissapointed me is America and Asia - Two of the bigger MMO markets never been tapped. Only a few of us (SXR being a major component) play/played from the US. No idea on Asia (and yes I do remember the Asia campaign and testing they did). But ffs, America? The only ones that play it found it via some weird means (i.e. its not on the shelves here). Yes, we all get shit ping, but we can still play the damn game! Maybe no host available for an American server; or whatever. No idea on the reason behind it, but in a Country where kids sit in front of the TV/PC all day, KK couldn't even be bothered to get a slice. Shocking.

I do agree that it is the people that made NC1 (and partly the game itself). You could go to CRP on Uranus on a PE, tank or spy and not have to fight PPU/APU teams all day.

My major gripe though is many "Vets" pissed and moaned and whined and pissed and moaned some more until NC2 came out. When it did, they all quit claiming "its not NC1 anymore". No fucking shit!

People also throw the "rose tinted glasses" argument around, which quite frankly, is a bit pathetic. If rose tinted means "more people, more fun", then fine. NC2 is generally more stable, and has (alot?) of new content, but that doesnt make up for lost players.

Well, i found NC1 pretty fairly balanced, but since the formula changed from NC1 to NC2, the introduction of the gaia glove and other things borked the original balance.
