I don't think this will be a success like BF2. And Bf2142 has ben known for like 3weeks.

Anyone ever play Earth 2150? 3D RTS before anyone's PC was capable of running the thing. I have it installed, played the tutorial a while ago but haven't had time to really get into it. It's the same kind of deal, Earth is fucked and 3 factions are warring for resources to get the fuck out.

Pretty much what i was going to say. Quakewars looks way better.
And if you realy like mechs go play planetside. Its the only vehicle people use now.

Im pretty sure its an expansion. One of the 6+ they where developing before the game was released so they could squeeze as much money as possable from people instead of fixing the game.
Why does it feel EA is milking BF franchise for all its worth with the messup that was BF2.
And is it more or those mechs look familar ie battletech's shadowcats or vultures... need more piccies

The team behind bf:2, DICE sweden, is working on that "conversion". Thus, DICE CA is working on bf:2 patches now ... g'damn canadians :p
Basicly its a bf:2 mod being sold as a new game. A pretty similar gameplay with a gfx-facelift to suit the futuristic setting... a few new features as well, but not realy a brand new game. For now, I doubt I gonna play it.
I'm gonna get it so I can put C4 explosives onto the window of the mechs so when people get in, all they can see are black boxes of boom !
I love pissing people off in BF :p

You mean like they killed westwood and the entire CNC Series? It sadens me to know that there will never be another CNC game. Well only get the reboxed versions of the old games.
Oh and the music at the end is yet another remix of the original theme for BF 1942

There's a sequel to it that came out recently, earth 2160 I think.

The QW graphics looks pretty good, certainly better than BF 2142, but nowhere near what Crysis is going to end up with.
yeah, that one looks amazing as well. I've seen a trailer, especially liked the physics for plants and stuff. good times to come .. look at the progression of games from the last 10 years, and imagine where we'll be in another 10...

Hate to tell you we'll hit a peak within the next decade due to the limitations of silicon processors, will change when biological and optical based processors move from purely development phases into commercially viable.

if they don't change the engine, then it won't use dx10 or physics cards :(
If its going for release this side of christmas and it used dx10 it wouldn't sell period because vista's been pushed back.

i do actually get quite significantly better FPS in dx9 than 7, so perhaps it wasn't a complete waste of time

Me neither. Some people do though, along with a whole litany of other problems.
edit: Oh, I fatal on exit a bit, but that's ok. I get to my desktop faster.
i think some fatals happen when you tempoarily lose connection to the server
Can't say I'm all that excited about this new BF, BF2 was shite IMO - spammy tank whores win the day everytime. Can't see this being much different..
More interested in the upcoming Armed Assault :)

i fataled yesterday. it was my first fatal since i came back about 2 weeks ago. but then again i was running inbetween 2 zones constantly for no apparent reason just zoning back and forth :D
i hate all you guys talking about these fancy games when i have a shite PC :D it makes me have to upgrade more.
*hope his new 256 card gets here soon, along with the 2gigs of ram*
