I find games have lost the old feel like they have, it's more graphics over gameplay I see.

I started playing Uplink again and was addicted for hours.

can anyone tell me some really good games that I'd find addictive?

An old RTS/ Strategy game/Civilization kinda game, well made and with a lot of stuff, it can keep me entertained for hours.

And of course Fallout 1+2

i was always a massive fan of the point and click adventure games

heres some of my favs:

Grim Fandango (amazing game)
Little Big Adventure 1 + 2
Day of the Tentacle
Leisure Suit Larry 1,2,3,4,5,5,57,6,7,67,8,,89,98,,09,904334.54
Sam'n'Max
Monkey Island 1,22,3,454,65,7 (i enjoyed the later 3d ones as much as the originals)
Full Throttle
Normality

i hate the fact that all the big name game creators tend to make the same games.. you know... blow stuff up... shoot stuff... drive stuff.. i mean, i enjoy them.. but i really miss the adventure games :(

Final Fantasy III SNES (imho best console RPG ever made)
Secret of Mana SNES (close runner up to FF3)
Super Puzzle Fighter Arcade/PS1 (Best and most addictive puzzle game)
Shogo PC (one of the best and most underrated FPS ever made)
Doom 1 and 2 PC (the daddy of all FPS bow down)
Ghosts and Goblins Arcade/Com64/PC (Best scroller ever)
Fallout 1 & 2 PC (Still the sex, play it monthly)
Master of Magic PC (RTS meets Fantasy meets civilization, still have the floppies)
Legend of the Red Dragon PC ( L.O.R.D BBS Door game, its god tbh, and I lived only a few blocks from the creator of the thing, there was/is no game bigger in the BBS world, if you didn't love this game, chromosomes must be missing from your genetic makeup)
Mario Kart SNES (racing at its finest)
1949 (and various knockoffs) Arcade (flight sim LoL top scroller, and its teh win)
Final Fantasy VII PS1 (one of the best RPGs made for a console, still havent figured out how to take out the reddragon)
Contra Arcade (side scroller great stuff)
Samurai Showdown (all versions, nearly the best fighter to hit the arcade ever)
Mortal Kombat 1 (the classic not those other shitty ones)
Civilization (many hours lost to this game)
Moria (text graphic rpg/random dungeon LINK (http://www.piratehaven.org/~beej/moria/))
Baldurs Gate 1 and 2 (pc rpg goodness, the tops as far as that goes, besides fallout :P)
Ultima (take your pick, ones of the best, needs a mention)
Ultima Online ( the daddy of the mmo world, we can thank it for the mmo concept and the mmopvp concept tbh)
Diablo (deserves a nod for being the first big over the internet RPG type game to exist, was a bit before ultima, and helped the mmo movement get where it is today, besides who didn't love killing those cows.. lol)
Armored Core PS1/2 (Underrated SinglePlayer Mech game, one of the best)
Wipeout PS1/2 (One of the fastest best racing games I've ever played, good soundtrack at least for a techno head)

Thats all I can think of at the moment.....

Defender, Tron, Utopia,.

Does anyone remember those mechanical games? I had a driving game with 3 spools with cars on them and a paddle that moved your car back and forth. Scoring was based on distance travelled and the whole game was manouvering your car back and forth to avoid hitting any other cars. The score was kept on an odometer style thing with a manual reset that zeroed it out. I spent literally hundreds of hours playing with that thing.

Best Fps ever. Well, it was anyway before the cheating with trainers started. The maps were insanely huge. I think they even were endless. A real sniper's heaven. I would put on my gilliesuit, take my barret and lay down somewhere in the grass.Argh, what a lovely game it was.

Anyone remember epic megagames. They had many a scroller shareware game out back int he day Jill of the Jungle comes to mind, of course Duke Nukem and another space one I cant for the life of me remember the name of, the ship was cool though you could fly to crazy planets and do delivery missions bounty hunt, get cloaking devices and all that... but the name *sigh*....

PS. Have Secret of Mana on my snes emu I'll post a screeny when I get home for nostalgia purposes that game was/is the sex. Rpg wise anyone remember Suikoden <sp?> or a old pc one called Eye of the Beholder? What about Wizardry?

Edit: Solar Winds, came out in 1993 the game was fun as hell. And you can still get the thing on floppy from epic or theres a site that hosts the old playable demo, that game was fun as hell LINK (http://www.classicdosgames.com/epic.html)

Most of the LucasArts adventure games: i.e - Fate of Atlantis, Day of the Tentacle, Sam & Max, Full Throttle, Monkey Island 1 & 2 (and 3 to a lesser extent)
TIE Fighter (and later X-Wing Alliance, though it was never as good as TIE Fighter, maybe it was an age thing)
Rise of the Triad
Duke Nukem 3D
Syndicate
Jagged Alliance
Colonization
Pizza Tycoon
Simcity 2000
Innocent Until Caught (anyone here remember this?)
Beneath a Steel Sky

hehe there were so many street fighter 2's, afaik there was street fighter 2, street fighter 2 championship, street fighter 2 turbo: hyper fighting, street fighter 2: the new challengers, and street fighter 2 turbo (my personal fav someware around 93 or 94) Still remember the unstoppable Sagat combo, and the insta crash the game combo lol.

Still I prefer MK1 to SF due to the violence invloved.. ;)
