Well - I've been playing RF online since launch. I managed to get to level 28, and tonight I participated in my first chipwar. For those not in the know:
Chipwar - Massive PvP. I mean massive. 3 towers. each one containing a control chip for the central mining area ( where you mine resources at the fastest rae.). Essentially it's a huge, well... There's no real way to describe it, it's epic. Absolutely epic.
I have never in an MMO witnessed 400 People clash against another 400. It was amazing. You scan the sea of bodies for someone around the same rank, or if you're lucky, someone lower, charge and duke it out, all the while watching the combats around you to see if you're going to be able to count on the guy next to you to back you up.
The main points occur when one force is pushed back to it's tower, and has to mount a defence against a horde of enemies. Destroy the chip and they are denied access to the resources inside the mine.
It was fantastic. High details - no chugging. 800 people in the area, no lag.
All I can say is WOW. And I cannot wait to level up a bit more, so I can be leading the charge. The high point of the entire battle for me was around halfway through.
I'm accretia, think Psuedo roman. Anyhow. We have a race only weapon, teh siege launcher - huge portable cannon - you deploy, then let rip. A small pocket of Cora ( Elves ¬_¬) Broke through our lines, and I stepped up to coordinate the defence, I was a team leader at the time, so I rallied our team to teh siege line, shouted orders out, it rocked, so hard, seeing my team following what I asked of them.
JEE-ZUS!
Suffice to say, I'm a little worried op wars are gonna disappoint. :(
