Hey, I was just wondering if anyone knew about (or has) this pretty cool program for XP called SphereXPthat basicly turns your desktop into a handy 3d sphere like enviroment , making managing loads of windows easy (meybe even duel-logging on neocron :P). Its a free beta and worth a spin (no pun intended), even just to impress some friends.

To find it just slap SphereXP into google, can't miss it.

Screenies! + a little fraps i quickly made up.

EDIT: you will realise that i took the screenshot while i was typing the post, but then accidently closed the window down so i had to re-wright :P.

Complication with doubtfull results.
There are other solutions, that are also tied to the O.S that are usefull; try expose from Apple for example.

Wouldn't an application like that really grind your CPU to pieces?

I thought Neocron did that already? :p

Actuly not as bad as you think, though don't expect to run bf2 with it.

Its kinda of a gimmick but isnt XP anyway?

Concerning that topic: Did you ever played (or tried to play) "FarCry" or "F.E.A.R." (at high resolution and with high details)? ;)

Ive played Farcry with all on high with lcd resolution, no problems.

I never have windows next to each other, all of them are full screen and I just alt tab through them.

My house mate though has dual monitors.

Yeah, played F.E.A.R on high detail. There is a big difference between playing it on a P3-750 with Geforce 3 TI200 and a AMD3500 with a Geforce 7800GT.

this seems interesting, but i usually just use my TV i have linked to my compy, if i move something to the left, it goes onto my TV (I.E Neoskiller and Neocron at the same time  wewt) but it looks interesting, and i might try it.

P.S: good to see someone else plays Ogame.

Ever played neocron and had Graphics, Physics, Sound quality or infact anything ingame that compares atall to the kind of stuff you have in farcry and FEAR ?
Ever stopped to think before making a post likethat and consider the fact neocrons on a engine that outdates most floppy disks and FEARS engine thats what, less then a year old ? Oo

So it does kick the ass out of ur system then!

But with simultaneous dual touch screen monitors (which are now being designed) and if that software could support them it would be really cool.

calm down. You did not got the idea behind my question.

You need to compare these 3 games on a single computer. At least on my PC Neocron is running fine even with high details and high resolution. In order to get FarCry running smooth, i needed to buy more RAM. In the last weeks i bought F.E.A.R., and this game is running with bad performance, therefore i needed to shrink resolution for that game.

Conclusion: There are other games, which might "grind your CPU" more than Neocron. And that was the idea behind my question.

The game performance seems to be very dependant from the hardware configuration. Maybe someone also has F.E.A.R. and it's running fine, but Neocron on the other hand does not?

No, but bf2 does.

So what ur saying is that some programs that we already know are resource hogs, will still hog resources (maybe slightly more) if used along side this GUI.

LOL that truly is invaluable information.

I'm saying it might just be too much to push your computer over the edge if you run both at the same time.

Go figure.

This is a Vista feature.

It's not. Vista just has rotating windows.

Actually Vista would have more support for anything regarding free windows than any Windows XP mod... because the whole desktop layer is no longer drawn in the GDI+ way. Instead, it's handled by the video card where every element is essentially a 3D object.

Here's some information, it's a nice read...

And heres the start page for the same article:

Now personally, I'm reserving judgement until I see it with my own eyes and its installed... but on paper at least, a lot of the features look pretty good. It looks to be much much more stable than Windows XP.. and might even get rid of most of the errors with Neocron. :p (Read Kernel/Audio page)

The idea is good but the application lacks important stuff like window update, it wont refresh the GUI on applications, for example mirc, it has to be done manually which sucks :P and that expiry thingy sucks as well :P

rob444

Err weird, no such options, only preferences on an object and that wont even do anything, no window at all :P.
