Looking to upgrade my gfx card.
Think i just missed the boat on PCI and mine uses AGP.

The current card is an nVidia 4400mx 64mb 4XAGP

I'd like to replace it with a 5500 256mb but it's 8x AGP
Is there a way i can find out if my motherboard can handle 8x or is there no difference for the mobo?

Also, cananyone recommend a good gfx card if the 5500 is a bit outdated.

OS is windows.

doesnt matter if its 4x or 8x, if your mobo is 4x AGP it will run at 4x no matter which gfx card you use.

So if i use a 8x in a 4x interface it'll just run a bit slower, but with no other problems?

How do i tell what speed my mobo AGP slot is? The card is 4x, i dont know what the AGP port is limited to.

/edit Looking on Dabs.com, they seem to have some pretty good deals.

yes

It should be in your bios on startup, have a look there.

But I wouldnt worry so much about AGP speeds, a few years ago it made about 5% or absolutly no difference at all, so im not sure if all games out now have been made AGP8x compatable, most though id say.
