Mmmh, as a player who doesnt care that much about realism ingame i say:
Enjoy your extra-shots...
Maybe its because KK wanted a 3 shot burst laser rifle, but with 20 shots per
clip your inventury would be messed up in no time (all those not fully used ammo-clips).

Hi there,
it did so all the time in NC1 too.
All laser rifles shoot a burst of 3 shot consuming only 2 of the ammo.
But don't make this to change, laser rifles atm do suck already, don't nerf them more ;)

Sure it's not 24 shots per clip for a laser rifle, or is that just Disruptor?
SH uses two clips per shot iirc so no the game is not consistent ;)

Hope that solves any unknowns...and i am slightly curious why it fires 3 and only consumes 2.
Balancing descision would be my guess. But you want an 'RP' Explanation? The number of "shots" given on laser ammo is merely a untused to describe the energy. More efficent weapons may consume more or less than one unit of ammunition per shot fired.

Pulse Laser acts normaly (read:as indicated by number on QB)
This is an issue ive raised not too long ago it seems but never got any 'official answer' or "well back in NC1..."

Thanks Cmaster, seems like the best explanation.
I started to use a Dis with my rifle spy the other day instead of a healing light. Considering it's 5 tl higher i dont think it has an adequate damage over time increase to the HL. Making it fire 3 shots per 2 shots in clip like the HL does should even things up.
The Disruptor has another significant difference - zero stamina drain.
Jini pointed this out to me a couple of weeks ago when we were testing some TC rifle characteristics, and I can confirm with empirical evidence that it is indeed the case.
I'd never really noticed before because I'd pretty much stopped using them since their rate of fire was too heavily nerfed, down to 75%, back in NC1.
Even when I did use it I was crouching, at range, so stamina wasn't anything I needed to pay attention to.
