OP football (American football but more like rugby(why can't we get rugby here?))
Leave OPs and opwars exactly as they are now for this idea, but here is an idea to add to it. The
owning clan can buy nanite defense network packs from the faction FSM very very cheaply. My idea
is for it to be fitted in the main armour slot with the combined effects of powerarmour and titan
armour (obviously not adding the duplicate resists but be fair to the terrain mobs both pro and
anti face) and making it about 200 pounds (completely overburdening if left in inventory and not
equipped) but it adds transport skill when worn to make it about 150 pounds. As a main armour
piece it can be like reskinned powerarmour but without the armour. It just looks like a big
honking backpack that the tank is wearing.
Summary part 1: A capped pvp tank grabs a heavy pack and everyone who sees him knows what it is.
Its so heavy that unless he respeccs for transport he will limp along if he carries any heavy
firepower. If he only carries bare neccesities like full armour and a few medpacks and heal spell
etc. he will be able to run (unless respecced which no hi lev pvper would do much of).
The nanite pack is extremely sensitive and cannot be brought through a GR or carried in a vehicle
even as passenger. Now, when it reaches the op it acts like re-fueling it. Without it an op is
normal -3 hack layers, turrets, locked underground etc. When you bring the pack to the op it adds
1 security layer and quadruples the health of turrets (I'm talking about making them nasty like
you just want to run past them and not waste time killing them) continuously as long as there is
nanite fuel. The op uses the pack like fuel and a built in storage tank holds 4 packs (still just
one security layer and 4X turret health). The fuel depletes slowly say 1 whole fuel tank
completely depleted in 20 game days, 1 pack per 5 game days. But the owning clan can buy
auxiliary tanks at a great price, say 700K that hold 4 packs each and cannot be destroyed (by
fire arms) and are placed like turrets.
Once the op is hacked completely the turrets go rogue shooting at everyone until fuel runs out (I
don't know what turrets do now if the op is hacked and they are still alive).
Back up to before the op is taken over. An attacking clan can buy EMP limpet mines from the
nearest owned op from an NPC in the basement. The limpet mines work exactly like the nanite packs
(weight, armour slot, transport etc. but bought at owned op's instead of FSM). Each mine
neutralizes 1 nanite pack worth of "fuel" when activated at a tank. If an attacking clan brings
20 limpet mines to disable 3 plus the built in full storage tanks, so be it. The 4th layer can
still be hacked but the turrets still go rogue after the op is taken if the fuel isn't
neutralized.
Now this may seem like a lot of non fun micromanagement, but if the owning clan is getting their
op hacked and getting beaten a bit, they can get a blitzer with a nanite pack to run in and tag a
storage tank to restore the extra security layer. An nats gonna be, na na nah ats gonna be, nats
gonna be a touchdown, an nats good football!!
