View Full Version : Pistol/hacker PE setup

Its been a long time since I been playing NC so I need some advice here. I forgot all the cap numbers and uber setups and I'm sure there have been some changes as well that would make old setups suck.

I'm going for a hacking pistol PE this time, probably end up with a wyatt earp. Does one still need around 50 to hack warbots and around 110 to hack ops? I intent to hack ops, keep my recycle skill at around 20 so I can rec my ammo, not sure if I want to go high tech but stealth was always fun to mess around with though. And how much weapon lore should I get? A starter setup would be grand, I can respec later on if needed but I need some basic stuff to aim for.

General advice, comments and/or random flames are welcome =)

Yes 50ish to hack warbots. Dunno about ops but I think someone told me 140ish.

and everytime someone ask about wpl in help i hear people say for pistol none is needed. I think they are wrong..some is needed, but dont know how much.

50 for warbots yes, though OPs are easily hackable with 110, you'll fail (if you know what your doing) at most 1 in 20 times.

Yep some is needed, though not a huge amount. If you're going for a wyatt earp, then you'll need at the very most 50 total weapon lore skilled.

Also if you're recycling, go for 25 (or 10 + recycle glove) so that you can do the blue drugs.

I'm levelling a PE as well and plan on pistol/hacking too.

I sort of messed up on character creation -- back in NC1 the jobs didnt matter, so I just picked the first thing that was offered, assassination. Will this affect me at all, outside of the starter missions?

I really don't want to start over, being rank >> already.

Also, what sort of point distribution is normally done with STR and CON? My old NC1 character was a spy, so it was never really an issue, but with higher levels on my PE, i'm not sure what to do.

In STR, i'm sort of evenly levelling Transport and.. Resist Force? The two that aren't H-C or M-C.

In CON, I hit 50 in both Body Health and Athletics, and started putting points into Resist Fire. I haven't put any points in Endurance yet.

Interesting note on the WPL, I think I'm well over 50 already, but I plan on using hightech pistols.. will higher WPL help out or should I start LOM'ing?

And what about DEX? How many points into P-C will cap it for a Judge? And if my skill will being outside targetting range of my opponents, how much agility should I pick up? I have 20 in recycle so i can do ammo and medkits. Is it even worth putting points into Repair? I've found that my pistols wear out pretty fast..

I have less INT than my old rifle spy did, but with the lower WPL required, I guess I could pick up some tradeskilling.. is it possible for a pistol PE to both hack AND implant? I got about 55 hack right now.

question... when you have two numbers next to each other, what do they mean?

Current: 72 12 -- what is this? 72 points spent, 12 free?
Skill: Hacking = 98 25 -- does this mean that you have 73 points in hack, 25 from implants, for a total of 98?

The left one's the final number, the right one is the bonus from imps/spells/etc you get. So 72 12 means that the base number is 60 with +12 to it.
