There a way to change the color of the display from that teal or light green to a different color?

yep , /set gfx_hudcolor 1 to 0 (0 being default)

type this ingame in the chat window.

***Looks at keyboard*** Bleh dunno about you , but on my keyboard it goes `1234567890 ^_^ thats why i said 1 to 0 :P

But myself i use 7 i think;)
