What files are there in your "fonts" folder? tried comparing your rpos ini files from the old and new client?

I had this problem when i first installed neocron 1 years and years ago.

I believe it was because i was using windows ME, i upgraded to windows XP eventually and it worked fine. check your graphics card drivers are up to date etc.

Files are ok, so it's either Direct X or drivers.

I'm not really sure what you mean - can you post a screenshot?

Now you're making me feel guilty for pushing the clean install :p

Windows tends to screw up installation of fonts not in the windows fonts/dir from time to time.

A reboot works wonders.

If it doesnt help then re-register the fonts in the neocron folder.

reboot/dxdiag/newest nvidia drivers/ dumping fonts in windows fonts dir to install... still the problem

A bit of a daft suggestion is: what is the non-unicode setting set to in your language options?

Mine was set to Chinese, and that screwed up all manners of fonts inside the game. Switching it back to English sorted it out.

However, this isn't a long term solution (especially as every change requires a reboot), nor can I live with it on English all the time.

This "bug" was reported in NC2b and nothing was done then, and nothing has been done since. Disappointing.

Have ya tried the good old fashioned reinstall. Uninstall everything (backup patches tho, dont wanna do all the again). Delete the neocron2 folder that is left in the end to make sure its all gone. Do it from scratch. Reinstall seems to solve everything.

Weird, I had exactly the same problem as you have now and it was a directx issue, tried running nc2 in DX7 mode?.

I think a reboot fixes this.

And oh, you probably get this kind of error if you try to run NC2 from a share (network) :)

maybe uninstall and then use a regcleaner to remove any trace of neocron, and then reinstall?

just a suggestion..

another reboot and some fiddling in the language options fixed it, had lots of really weird unicode tables enabled of languages ive never even heard of.

Close the thread plz Mr. Nidhogg! :)
