I've done a little reading about this game and my interest is piqued. Anyone here who has played City of Heroes who could tell me if I should get into Neocron?

I've played City of Heroes for the last year and rather sick and tired of having to learn how to play the game every four months with new issues and nerfs.

I've made it up to level 50 on a scrapper and I want to try and understand how it compares. I'm tired of lack of content and trying to find a new home for my main.

Any help would be appriecated. Thanks for taking the time to read or help.

i went to city of heroes myself from neocron , playing on defiant :)

i wil be coming back on the 14 day freebie for old accounts to poke around myself
unless the game has changed much you are in a for a big suprise !!!, character progression can be fast and they are different ways to play, not just bash and buff .
pvp is a big part of neocron and although its fps looks can be decieving its based on % for attacks so dont be suprised if at low levels you miss some thing right in front of you ( think purple boss without single origin accuracys )

you dont have to pvp if you keep your law enforcer chip in and there is enough content to keep you going for a while

im sure the regulars will post with more up to date stuff

as far as cough nerf cough goes every game has its fair share of them, but coh has had a big bat layed accross its back lately.
get the 10 day free trial and have a go you will either love it or hate it like marmite !!!!!

The learning curve is said by most fairly steep but worthwhile as the end game PvP is great!

Its a new game to you, so new chars, new areas and all new interface.

At the end of the day you need to try it to see if you like it, i would suggest joining the Pro Neocron side as a noob because its easier to get around also start a PE or Tank as they level fast compared to a spy.

Wait till Dec 1st as a new client will be available for download (or so we are told :D ) which will include the Upcoming Evo2.1 update.

And once in game use Help channel for advice ;)

Heh, I guess I just have a difficult oriented personality then because I was thinking of making a;

Psi-Monk Inquistor for the Black Dragon Faction, which if I read right I start in the dome. I was looking at Diamond Reality and being ProNeocron but heard it's pretty lack luster.

I like the idea of one day owning my own club someday, and be a quiet business man (ending up Bartering).

Thanks for all the help guys, definately seems worth checking out.

Psi monks APU inquisitor level fast and do good damage but they are weak in defence thats all :P

Just suggested the PE as levels most skills easily and you can try a good range of things decide what you like and then specialise with your second char.

If you go Pro you got Cityadmin, Tangent several clans in each of these or you can go Biotech, Photopharm (nice epic rewards you can sell for some serious cash) just a suggestion besides you can start a char in DOY have a run around see what you think.

you get 4 slots on Terra so plenty to try out :)

You can customise you apt as you like, but not open a club as such (you could ask a GM to add a public entry door switch to it though, but you won't make any money).

CoH is clearly a more PvM centred game, where as NC is a lot more PvP based, as a result you may find that there is little in the way of quests, at least not compared to CoH. Most of the missions are a means to an end, rather than an integral part of the game or story - Kill 5 of XXX - Take this package to XXX.

Try the trial though, see if you like it.

Most of CoH has been like those quests as of late too. There is no storyline in game anymore, died with the Rikti invasion. I thought I read about clubs here;

http://forum.neocron.com/showthread.php?t=123724

but here is the info;

Black Dragon Society (BD): Their backstory is that they're an exiled gang of drug dealers who also used to run an extortion racket out of Pepper Park; now they provide much of what passes for medical care in the ruins of the Dome of York. Their epic reward is your own nightclub; completing the epic also unlocks the vendor to sell you some very powerful (and illegal) drugs that grant defensive bonuses. They are the only source of the +5 primary skill bonus illegal drugs, and for level 3 and 4 private eye power armor. Their highest security database has blueprints for an extremely deadly flamethrower. Their image appeals especially to party people, which makes them a small to mid-sized Dome faction.

Maybe that was the old game though.

First off congratulations on playing CoH for so long. ( I couldn't stand it past 1 month payed time.) Second off:

(disclaimer: did not read any replies.)

Ever since gaming on MMORPG's since october 98'. Currently 22 as of december 8th this month. I can pretty much say neocron is like no other MMORPG out there. The combat is very active and keeps you active as well.

No auto attacks for you (like alot of mmorpgs out there.) I would give it at least the 10 day credit card trial if I was you. Just make the trial account and cancel it right away to play the rest of the trial without worrying about beign billed. Also, if you start off as a faction that starts in neocron city drop me a PM here and I will see what I can do to help you out.

As of content. There is missions to do and clans to join when your bored. But, tihs game is basically all about warfare. Nothign much more then that. Homes otherwise known as apartments in this game are great. You can buy really sweet looking furniture for it (and even bigger/fancier apartements) to make it look really nice.

For your "main" in a MMORPG. I suggest you play at least 1-2 months and make alot of friends before you decide whether to make this game your main game or not. Some people are just not into it. I am a gamer all around though and if you like all genres, I believe you will like this one because it's "different," in it's own ways.

I played CoV for a few months and just got bored of it. Quests are repetitive and boring. It's just a constant grind.

Sup Dealaka,

I played COH as well on Liberty server. Had lvls..

50 blaster
40 Def
35 con
30 blaster
30 tanker
30 scrap
30 PB
so bout 3000 hrs into COH (which for me is alot)

I played NC1 in beta and thought what the hell got bored as hell, got the 10 day trial and havent looked back. I cancelled my COH act last week after not playing a single time in the month of November.

Not only is NC2 much more enjoyable, the community is extremely awesome! This game takes ALOT more patience and thought then any other mmorpg which seperates it from the rest. There are some nagging bugs and the graphics arent the prettiest in the world but it does have a solid pvp quality that a game like COH wish it had. Give it a chance you just might like it pal.
