View Full Version : What does KK run?

MrTrip
25-11-05, 16:52
I don't want this turning into a flame war against them, first off.

I just want to know what uber system KK runs NC2 on that gives them the good FPS that makes them think they can release NC2 to us.

OMGZITS A DEVOURAR! FUK MY FPS IS 1X_X OMFG YM VIDEO KARD STARTEDFONFIER!!!!!!!!!

I pray to god NC2.1 will fix all the fps issues...or else we might see

"OOO THAZ A KEWL PLAZMA MODAL!! OMFGMY FPS IS 2 ZOMG I DIED!!"

:(

I'm on an ATI x600 (mobility) and I havent dropped below 30 or so fps. Never really bothered to look because it was never an issue.

You can PvP at 15 fps.

No problems on my 1.4 athlon/9500pro.

I have a GeForce FX 5500 OCed, processor is an Intel P4 2.6 GHz with 1 GB ram, and unless I close every single background window, take my background completely off, tune up all the startup stuff so the useless stuff, I do this anyways because I hate crap starting o.0, if I do not do all of this I get probably 2 FPS in neocron2 in DoY, in NC city I get probably 10 - 20, in the waste lands I get about 2...

And I also have the problem with the flamers, not just the rare one...

I have the most up to date gfx driver, windows, and so on... I should not be getting good FPS on games like DOOM III//HL2 and then get complete shit FPS on games that run a lot less gfx... I hope it is fixed in 2.1 tbh...

You can PvP at 15 fps.

if only we got 15 FPS, my FPS is not 2 constantly, it is random, it will start at 40, then go to 15, 35, 37, 20, 2, 4, 20, 35, 50, 2, 1, 5 ect... That is kind of hard to PVP under, considering when it randomly drops the guy is not where he was when you shot and you miss him completely...

PS: And please do not use my gfx card as a reason of why I get this FPS, because its not... It might contribute a little, but not that much.

PS: I also get 80 FPS on NC classic…

This may help :

http://saule.free.fr/neocron/fog.jpg

I only turn this off when I need to snipe or scout my environment (mobs, incoming ennemies etc), but I have to force fog distance rest of the time when fighting in enclosed area or during OP war melees for example. This makes great enhancement on how smooth you can aim/move, and the number of displayed frames per second.

This one changes EVERYTHING trust me, and if unhopefully you did not know this before you met me, then you just discovered a way of improving 10 times your pvp skills and pleasure :)

I may be wrong there : I think that most FPS games are using low distance vanishing points, but NC defaults allows you to see at long range (thought it's rarely useful, due to the fact that ennemies and mobs are diseapearing much closer than any sniper rifle max range whereas u can always see the scenery).

nothing in the game lags me...unless like 100 devourers are hitting me at once all with flashlights and laserpointers installed

i seriously get about 20 constant FPS, no matter what im doing

even if im idleing in my app...

But to answer your questions, they've probably got a range of machines, athlons to intels, 64-bit to 32-bit, and geforce to ATi. They need to check compatability after all!

The only time my FPS is good is when im idleing in my app looking down at the floor lol. Even then it still isnt constant. Im hoping the new gfx engine changes will fix this though, we will see.

im thinking that the engine upgrade might slightly drop my FPS to a somewhat of a 15 constant...but then again if the engine upgrade will be like Eve, awsome. i never lag in eve. ever.

Dont say that! KK has already made the draw distance too short, for people who's systems are outdated, we dont need to give them an incentive to shorten it even more.

If anything the draw distance should be pushed back, not to advantage anyone, but so you can see some of the world, not have a blanket cut everything off at 500m or so.
I want to see trees way off in the distance, hell KK should try to push its draw distance to that of FarCrys.

There are other things to consider then just pleasing those with the high-end
systems, one being to have a wider population if you could run nc as is on a
lower end system etc etc.

I have an almost identical pc as Odin,
amd64 3000
1024mb ram 3200
gf 6600gt
80gig 7.2k rpm

And I have to say, I thought I would be getting more out of it, It really seems
that Intel is the way to go with NC since it's all about the mhz.

Only place for long draw distance i think is looking through the scope of your rifle or using some binochulars.... apart from that i think it's not bad as it is no need to alienate low enders some more

26-11-05, 14:52
As I understand it unfortunately atm NC uses mainly the cpu and not the full potential of graphics cards, therefore limiting factor is processor speed. If you've got a lowish spec cpu even if you have a top of the range graphics card you're gonna struggle with fps. Any official word on if this is likely to change at all with 2.1 would be much appreciated....

I love the 3000. On the stock fan it's running at 28-30C. Dirus I believe has it overclocked significantly and is still in the low 40's. Very overclockable chip.

Mhm it's like the old celeron 600 you could oc like mad :p Well not really, but it
sure runs smooth. You can OC it to 2.0 gig on stock fan without any problem

Same, i love EVE never lags at all, not even with 17k people on or what ever the latest online record was.

When i was playing eve there was alot of lag. I would try to open a cargo thing and it would take 10+ seconds. It wasent on my end becouse i was talking on vent with people at the time who where getting it to from a diffrent country.

Also tomparadox, i bet its your videocard. Even though nc still needs a good cpu, your videocard has to be atleast alright. Nearly anything is better then a 5500. Also i doubt you get more fps in hl2 then in nc2. I ran nc2 with a tnt2, and a radeon 7000. I got way more frames doing that then i did running call of duty with my 7000 and that game runs on anything well.

Anyways im getting a new videocard. My 6800nu should be here soon.... :)

I run:

AMD 64 3500+
ECS NF4 K9A Motherboard
WD 74Gig Raptor
2gigs of generic pc2700 ram
Nvidia 7800GT

all stock cooling. I don't drop under 70FPS w/ all settings maxxed in DX9 mode.

Most of these people with decent setups whom should be getting 30+FPS I will bet have a HD full of shit and background programs running. Probably hasn't been reformatted in a few years :P

My old computer was

duron 1000
128 sd ram
geforce 2 mx
10 gig hard drive of some sort.
some ecs board

In neocron one i had a time where i always had the gog on max. Going into the outzone was always a surprise. I would run into things before i realised they where there. It was a magical moment that one time i turned the fog off to see what the wastes looked like.

I like my new computer though its still not so good.
