I just got my copy of Neocron 2. :) Although it is not available in the States yet as far as I know, I ordered mine from a UK site called Startup Software (http://www.startupsoftware.co.uk/acatalog/Neocron_2_Beyond_Dome_of_York.html) for only 9 Pounds or around $17 USD. Took less than a week to get here, safe and sound.

As for the requirements, this is what the retail box says...

Minimum Specifications:

Microsoft Windows 95/98/ME/2000/XP
1.4GHz CPU (Intel/AMD), 256 MB RAM
DirectX comapatible graphics card with 32 MB
DirectX compatible sound card
1.7 GB free hard drive space
56.6k modem Internet connection

Recommended Specifications:

Microsoft Windows XP
2.6GHz CPU (Intel/AMD), 512 MB RAM
DirectX comapatible graphics card with 128 MB
DirectX compatible sound card
1.7 GB free hard drive space
Broadband Internet connection

Remember to run the game in Dx7 mode, not Dx9 mode.
In a strange twist of fate, Dx7 looks betta than Dx9 ...

Evol 2.1 SHOULD correct this strange error. *HUM*

If you're going to be running in dx9 mode (the default setting), it is useful to have more than 512mb. Dx9 mode seems to be plagued with memory leaks, I upgraded to 1gb specifically to get NC2 running a bit smoother for longer. With 512mb ram i'd need to restart client every 30 minutes or so if I didnt want to suffer a jerky fps due to NC2 using my HDD as ram.

How about Neocron 2?

Yeah, how do NC2's reqs compare to NC1's?
Isn't the vegetation forced-on now?

QuakCow

veg is not forced on as of now, but its been said that the evo 2.1 veg will be forced to an extent

Forced-on is good, IF it doesn't bring a halt to your framerate.

I wonder if it's not forced-on, if mobs can't see you WITH veg or can see you without it ...

I got Athlon64 FX-55
1.5gb DDR400
Geforce6800ultra OC

my PC would eat neocron alive. the only way i think i'd get frame rate problems is if the engine itself is slow and bumpy. but i do have experience with the game. and i remember being on a 450mhz, 128mb ram, tnt 16mb during beta3 and 4 and it ran fine even on that. well. to an extent.

edit: i meant geforce2 MX 32mb, not tnt 16mb. >.<

128mb isnt enough for anything anymore
my card has 256mb gDDR3 memory. blazing fast and tons of storage.
the amount of memory on your card does not determine how fast it is, or the quality of the card. just because a card has 128mb's of memory doesnt mean its good. or even half decent. could be a piece of garbage. probably is if its getting 10 fps in Neocron.
example...
Geforce FX 5500 128mb would run NC2.
but an ati radeon 9800pro 128mb would run it MUCH faster.
or even a radeon 9600xt would be great for it.
video cards are tricky to buy if you dont have a lot of money to spend. realllyyy gotta research it. 100% of the time if its under $100, even if it somehow has 256mb...its shit.
my card cost me, after tax, over $650. and you get what you pay for. believe me.

There's something wrong with you settings, deffenetly.

I'm playing NC with old Pentium3 and a 64MB Ati Radeon 9200SE. Even I have more FPS in wastes than 10.

gfx cards are not that much important with NC2, i just checked the difference between my old ati 8500 (underclocked to 50% efficiency due to overheating) and ati X1800 and its like 5-10 more fps in the wastelands.

NC2 is still 90% CPU & RAM, 10% gfx it seems.

Really? On my shitty +1400 XP on TNT2 I have 15-20 fps, and on a Geforce 2 MX I have 35-40 FPS. (before evol naturally)

well i'm guessing that NC tries to use all resources it can get, but the % priority is still the same. On p4@2.8 and 1500+MB ram it doesnt really matter what kind of gfx card u got because almost all is processed by cpu (at least it looks like this)

another explanation could be that it requires some kind of minimum gpu power (and tnt2 just isnt enough, but again when reached said minimum it doesnt matter that much as all the rest is ram+cpu)

i'm not a tech guy so i cannot say how it works exactly, ask specialists (Dr Quinn, for example), just sharing my exp...
