With the long time since the last patch, Then 10tacle taking over a belgian company who has a good graphics engine, people working on a secret project that has a LOT of money invested........
I doubt that we'll see the new engine in neocron, but the devs working on neocron can't be sitting there all day doing nothing either.
So, the question is: "When... and.... what?"
Er, Evol 2.1? Like in the plan file? We do actually try and do the things we say we're going to do. ;)

I'm not aware of any deal made to license or otherwise make use of a third party's tools, code or other intellectual property. Logic would suggest that it would take longer than the period described for Evol 2.1 to make changes to the codebase on that scale.

So neocron will go ahead with the same code, new models and maybe woc for other classes and a restarted storyline.

The Elveon team licensed the Unreal3 Engine btw... I havent read anywhere that they dropped it and are now all into that belgian thing..
ive heard europeans have a good rep for 3d stuff ...

Don't confuse 10tacle with ReaKKtor here... 10tacle runs Elveon and "owns" the 40+'sh dev crew, 10tacle has set up (bought) another dev studio in belgium.
ReaKKtor maintains Neocron and is owned by 10tacle... so I'd guess KK is as good finance-wise as 10tacle wants it to be. The more money 10tacle puts into other projects the less money there is to invest in ReaKKtor? Right?

Depends how its setup, it could use other revenue to support reakktor through harder times and could in fact be using its losses(If they do make them ;) ) to offset Group profits. All depends how it's structured tbh.

well, a good reason could be that it's making a consistent loss - not that i know or am suggesting neocron is - but server costs, plus various staff costs all have to be paid for. with the current level of subscribers, do the bills get covered i wonder.

This is exactly how I feel with most Single player games, I normally only go for large multi player games now but one game that has got my attention is quake 4. I think I will most likely be buying this game since I loved all quake games

As for mp, they make the same FPS over and over with just better graphics. The amount of times i just says "wouldn't it be cool if you could do <blank>" i just wonder why devs don't think of it. Games that have impressed me with something in MP: agent under fire (Q claw is the win), Timesplitters 2 (setting people on fire), Halo (vehicles). HL2s physics engine is good but i still think it's too much about just point and shoot.

... I was going to go into full rant about how neocron goes through periods of static devlopment then jaw dropping sudden changes then stalls again. But I really don't have the energy to anymore. Tbh once the lore of neocron's been tainted with the problems it just looses all its apeal, compare this to eve, very specific history like nc has but beyond that the storyline has been very loosely influenced by the dev team, yet the lore holds true, just pop to the eve gate system to see that, a back end deadwater system with nothing of value yet hundreds of people visit because its part of the lore, and eve is going on 16'000 peak users stronger with a 3rd expansion in the works and it was only released in 2003. With neocron, we're aware of the storyline, we even participate in it from time to time (when its not been forced in favour of DoY again, the canyon incident) but we never really feel part of the storyline, and thats something to be really concerned about if you can't keep intouch with a 500 strong community. Cmon dev's gm's mod's nid, how do u feel as a gamer about gettin thrown a bone every so often to distract us from real issues with the game.

UT2004 did vehicle niftily, altough it lacked lasting appeal. Ever tried Natural Selection? FPS/RTS hybrid HL mod, I;ve never actully seen as much teamwork just happening in (good) public games there as anywhere before. The game demands temaworkd, and often gets it, plus theres a huge variety of stratergies out there. Makes NC OP wars seem very tactically stale (all the teamwork is is in buffing and focusing firepower). Or another HL mod I used to play, THe Opera (some argue the specialists did it better). Loads more movement options (dives, rollss, flips, somersaults) and an emphasis on style over kill count. Theres some interesting stuff out there.

NC have the good pvp as soemthing special no other mmos ive tried have, why me and alot of people i bet keep playing it. if i wanted to mine or kill monsters id go play wow or eve

First FPS that had real teamwork involved that I played was Wolfenstein with Medics etc. Was a great game and bloody hard to get up that beach if you didn't play as a team tbh.

its a game where all u do is run in the city and u have missions but EVERYTHING in the game is made so you cant do em.
basically u chill around, get in ppl's place, and cause mayhem.
u can set ppl on fire with gas and matches and then piss on em to set it off...
and the deadcow head wepon is so, sooooooooo funny.
the loading kida sucks, so you have to manage then zonelines with care, once u got that down u can be a sick as u want.

I must admit these frequent updates are welcome! i like the screens but would like a little progress report as well :angel: only if it's to say what they have completed so far and how the deadline is looking!

KK wont give a update on time mainly cause, if they do say its out Mid Dec, and they over shoot by a year or two, they get reminded often. If they don't all they get is 'No Progress' posts, the lesser of 2 evils.
Its harder to manage expectations than not allow them at all.

Thye already said it would be 2-3 months from the 31st August so thats, yes the end of this month! I just want to know earlier than later if they will overshoot tbh.
If i gotta wait till the end of NOV then they say oops sorry its gonna be a while longer i'll be more pissed than if they tell me now tbh.
