Oh dear..

Oh god no... I have heard so many bad stories about NTL and when I was a Telewest customer they was rock solid. I suppose I am glad I'm now on ADSL now.

Wanadoo for the lose.

I was on a £27.99 a month package for 576k and saw they were doing 576k for £15.99, phoned em and got them to change it to 1mb for £27.99, so just keep me on the same package (576k), so I phone em again and they change it to 1mb... for a day...

Also all their Call Centres are in India.

I really hope the Telewest net services remain seperate, Blue Yonder is one of the better ones out there. Good thing I'm with Pipex.

I read somewhere that they're (Pipex) going to start capping "bandwidth hogs" or whatever. Seems like if they give you a certain bandwidth, you should be able to you know... use that bandwidth.

Beware those which run independant of the BT lines, Ie. Bulldog, which I'm sure you've heard so many bad things about.

Many providers are doing it.

You have to realise that the vast majority of people are not spending all their online time DLing stuff at full speed. They read the news, maybe some web comics and 'surf'. This is what's considered when the ISPs work out what the price is and things, how much traffic is going through an exchange and things. If people 'hog' bandwidth, though they are operating within the ISPs advertised service limits, they are breaching the assumptions that the ISP has made about the average traffic and can cause problems.

But yes, is it daft to sell an unlimited DL package and then turn round and tell people they are DLing too much.

Tiscali have already done it to me. =/

If I can just persuade my parents to get us off this shitty ISP...

If a BB provider is cheap (like Tiscali advertise themselves as), then they are more likely to pull this kind of thing.
