from what ive noticed the tank has more dmg since he has higher str
-but the pe has the ability to have buffs..

Pes will potentially get more speed and such. Also they'll have better resists than a tank when fighting someone one on one, due to the shelter. But you'll need to be a drug whore. Pes also don't get to use the higher level melee rares, but can damage to make up for it. So the pe's are more versatile and such, but tanks are probably better alround due to not having to drug.

But I just prefer Heavy Combat weapons anyway.

Pe's are fun if you can live with using one to three drugs constantly.
If you don't want to drug, tanks are definitely fun and can be tough as hell.

Yeah, it also depends on how you play the game. If you are going to be joining a clan, it is probably better to make an MC Tank because you can then participate in group PvP, which means you can leave buffing to a PPU. However, if you play at strange hours of the day/only PvM then you might be better off playing an MC PE as they are easier to solo mobs on (and you don't have to drug in order to level either).

Hybrid tanks ftw.
This is the setup of the recently deceased tank Bugs Gunny, with ppu buffs, but with pa switching and no ppu he could cap hc weapons and melee weapons. Basicaly it was flavor of the day for cs or pob.
For op wars, i used to tl3 and apu, thunderbolt, then dev them till they died.
It was funny how a tank could keep a ppu bussy and take him off healing his fighters.

i think a melee biased hybrid tank works OK but if you want to be a great HC fighter you need to go pure, so you cap all your weapons with zero buffs

plus all heavy combat weapons are easy to aim without needing to para your opponent

This hybrid caps his hc weapons without pa and just a beast.
For capping a pob he wears melee pa3.

yeah exactly, you may as well play a PE then, the advantage of a tank is your always ready, any place any time, if someone starts shooting you all you have to do is draw a weap and pull the trigger (maybe heal yourself), thats their main advantage over a PE, their always ready (oh and ppu buffs), when you gotta take a drug and swich armour it removes that factor (plus drugs are shit for opp wars)

plus, whats the point of melee when your got heavy weapons?
if you can aim (which you can) then their 100x better than melee

Well, at first i had two tanks one pure melee and one pure hc. Then i found out that without pa i could use a thunderbolt and still cap all hc weapons.
If i wanted to be like a pure melee tank i could run to the gogo and pull out a melee pa3.
So basicaly it let me free up a character slot for my very first pe ever. I think it was a good move :-)

eh if your looking for a more diverse character its pretty good, but i like to keep my oppfighting chars at 100% capability

... tanks dont even need to spec transport. strength skill gives you a shit load.

and he has capped force, near pierce.
