View Full Version : Synch bug is killing off playernumbers

Well, i can't realy remember which patch started it, but we all know that logging in or resuming the game is a pain.
On average i have to resume 3 times before everything works and i'm not missing stuff from inventory-quickbelt.
Now while this may suck when you are in the midle of a raid or fight and crash when opening inventory or upon zoning, it's still playable.
This means we as remaining NC players are the ones that have learned to live with it.

However there are a number of people who for some reason have this isue a lot worse. They have to spend sometimes 15 minutes trying to log in, and when they do and they crash they just say" screw it, that's me for tonight".

Well, the current status of the game has allready cost our clan a few members, and i wonder how many other people have left because of it.
And it's NOT due to their internet connection. These people go via the same route from the us as other players who don't have the problem, they have high end systems and high speed internet connections which have never caused problems with other games.

This is not a troll or a flame at KK, but looking back on my days in NC1, all the promises, then the whole "please transfer your account to NC2 package" which included player shops, a "wonderful" hacknet, item tracking, accesories, a "new" engine and dx9........
Which ones of the above actualy work at least 80% or are even functional?
I like the game due to the pvp system but i honestly believe that we had exactly the same thing in nc1. At least then it was easier to find a fight, and you could actualy play the game instead of spending 30mins every night going on trade, trying to get something which you just bought in a store back in nc1.

I know we can't turn the clock back to nc1, but you guys realy need to fix the game and give us the stuff you lured us into nc2 with.

Hacknet is okay I guess? Item tracking supposedly is in but it's hidden now so who knows? player shops, accesories, new engine and dx9 definately don't work/aren't in!

The login/sync bugs are pretty much what's keeping me away from playing, I simply can't be arsed with the hazzle each time I have to login (or relog, which I have to do frequently due to low memory or because of drug flash on my spy)

Hey that sounds alot like me! :p
I've given up trying to PvP much in the past few weeks.
PvP just isn't fun anymore when it takes an average of 10 attempts to successfully login. If I fatal during a fight I either miss the entire fight or wind up dead on one of my unsuccessful logins.

I really do hope they get this sorted soon. Not only are they loosing ppl that have played for a long time but they aren't going to gain any new ppl with these types of bugs...

when i relog 1 outta 3 times im missing all imps cant draw a wepaon or something liek that all i have to do to fix it is relog tho and its usuaully ok again and i still think its to much poor guys who cant login for 15 mins :(

ive noticed restarting ur game between logins and making ur char completely gone helps a LOT cuz when people just log out log in log out log in with their char still ingame it keeps being bugged for some people

The synchs, missing items, right click bug, all on logging in just fuck this game!

I tried for ages to get some mates to try this instead of WOW and finally I got them to try the trial. Only 2 of them mind you and they lasted One night!!

They asked "How do you play that peice of buggy shit??"

A newcomers perspective is not our hardened way of looking at it. No way would they pay to play neocron :( so only one RL buddy still in game.

Without overcoming these bugs NC will suffer as FIRST IMPRESSIONS COUNT!
Noobs just move on to the next free trial to find something worth playing

and you could actualy play the game instead of spending 30mins every night going on trade, trying to get something which you just bought in a store back in nc1.

The Item distribution through FSM's is fucked due to no player shops tbh. It was setup with Shops in mind. We buy sell etc whilst offline.

Now all we see is people spamming trade FSM<<90 symph needed!! to get eyes, spells, imps etc..

May work ok for the high level shit but try getting someone to Genrep to their faction and back for a licence or a low level item. Not worth doing it and certainly not worth the hassle of logging an ALT to do it either(especially with the above problem!) all compounded by the lower population, hell is their anyone in PP with 90 symph?? :p

KK REDESIGN item distribution at least in light of your decision to no longer proceed with Player shops, Just shove some smugglers in if you don't wanna redesign it all.....Please......

Can't possible be that hard for the game to detect a login bug and do a forced re-synch

As for the login/Sync issues, my hands are basically tied in trying to track down the issue on my side of things, I can't track something when I rarely get the issue. Maybe I'll take a trip to one of your houses to mess with the issues there :p Atleast then maybe I could get some info I can send into the office outta it.

dx9 definately don't work/aren't in!

Funny, works for me, only time I use DX7 is with the map editor.

Is DX7 faster?...I get some serious, and I mean SERIOUS screen lag sometimes now, especially when looking at water, or in the wastelands...I never got that in NC1, always stayed in double digit FPS, never below 20...now I hit 2 and 3 :(

BTW, where the heck do YOU live? I'm so moving into your house...I get sync bugs EVERY time I go to login...it does not fail, what information can I get you?

Dx9 is faster on my pc, only reason I even use Dx7 for the map editor is because its engine was never upgraded to Dx9 so none of the text I need to know whats what shows up.

Toronto, Canada basically.. I have a 6mb DSL connection :p As for info, I need stuff like net stats at that time, mainly to try and figure out whats going on between the client and the server. The last time I was having sync issues int he middle of the game was last week, but that was a router on this side of the ocean acting up.

I invite you to my house in Jersey to work on the problem. 100% of the time I log in i'm sync bugged and such, takes me ages to get it off, Once i"m not in sync I have no weapons/invent, So i zone and sometimes that works.

Aka - pain in the ass

I've had that problem twice since I've started playing Neocron, both times it was in NC1. There was no Dx9 back then. I know exactly what happens when it kicks in, however at the time I wasn't even a GM so I wasn't looking into the causes of anything. If it ever happens to me again, you can bet I'll being starting a debugger to try and track down whats going on.

Your sound issues reminds me of the one I used to get with certain PSI spells, again this was in NC1, and stopped after I got rid of my Live! 5.1 card(it died after my brother decided ginger ale was a good thing to drop beside a computer with no side cover on the case..)

As for the elastic band zoning, I havent had that in a few months either. Some people claim turning on V-sync helps, tho I never did this myself. I did notice it's linked to the bandwith counter. Try zoning with the FPS/Mem/Bandwith meters showing, you'll notice it happens when your bandwith is > 2000.

Dirus, why not post a list of commands the people that frequently have these problems should run the next time they get them? That way you'll get the data needed quickly.

I got a comp with a GeForce 4TI4600 in it and I never got the rubberband effect in NC1 or in the beginning in NC2 (using standard detonator drivers). Then I installed Omegadrivers and suddenly I got it everytime I zoned. As soon as I turned on vsync it dissapeared. I tested several times turning it off (and then got the problems again) and then turning vsync back on and they once again dissapeared. Loads of people have reported the same problem and solution when it comes to the Omegadrivers.

I recently exchanged my omegadrivers to some other optimized drivers but I still had the rubberband effect at zoning when I turned vsync off. And again it dissapeared when I turned it back on.

Alt+F turns on the FPS/Mem/Bandwith meters. The thing with most issues tho is that there is no real "commands" to turn on to get the info, alot of it involves running 3rd party programs and watching whats going on at a low level.

Which as you can see, I have two nodes between me and the server that have both lost a packet.
Is all of the login process also UDP? If so - losing a packet here and there can be fatally detrimental. I'm just guessing when the game is still "logging in" and you're not actually in-game receiving game data, maybe it's number of resends is limited?
