What could Neocron 'borrow' from other games?

So they'll never happen, but I thought it might be fun to think of things that KK could nick from other games that would fit well into Neocron (game engine/man hours/copyright not an issue :lol: ) :

- Dawn of War - Aerial Bombardment at Op wars called down by a clan leader. Target area is marked (ie with parashock effect) to give people a brief warning. Would be a quality tactical weapon!
- Mines, quality Op war defence, need researcher to difuse.

- Grand Theft Auto
- Vehicle Hacks! You could nick another persons vehicle!
- Tattoos - Facial effects, a clan could all wear the same marks
- Gambling - Casinos working in Pepper Park

- Battlefield 2 - Designated Team Commander, and overview mode switches to top-down view (like a droner). Allows NavRay point to be set for all members in team to follow

- Most other MMO's - Pets! Tame a Drom! Make it a WOC reward, you get a dragonfly as a pet. Would pwn all.

- The Sims - Family's! Populate your appartment with your family, you can get into amusing domestic incidents when you forget to buy the milk!

- Eve Online - Player Shops! (Doh!)
- Clan Built Bases and Outposts
- In game web browser

There we go I've started the ball rolling, what else would be cool in Neocron?

Despite that it would never work (people move too much) personally I feel it would be too much of a skillless weapon, so no.

I'd rather not go down the 'beastmaster' route, again skillless defence and cou.d be exploited for hunting.
(I'd rathe rhave a drone 'pet' though)

WOW - Buddy online list, I loved that feature although simple showed me who was online, who was not. Also pinged a message when someone logged on/off.

WOW - Auction House. Nice little feature and maybe a way around the more complicated Player shops. Just add feature to the Citycom ;) ( I know, I know)

FFXI/WoW - Mission/Fame system, why it has mission points i think you should get some points per completed mission that improve "fame" to your company the higher fame the cheaper stuff becomes, the high level stuff becomes available on vendors n so on.

FFXI - Seach list, well not alot a players but how about a find player or players looking teams set up a flag option and let people seek could also tie into a more advanced player tracking type feature n that for ncpd missions n so forth.

Most Others - More variety in what tradeskillers can make, let them do everything from furni to Apts (dre epic reward key bp?)

What I liked about NC when I was first playing was the lack of omgwtf uber bosses, you can pretty much cap and prepare yourself for pvp purly solo, and I like that

Not saying they should have to be faught but alot of people stand around and alot of capped people dont mind pvm so why not some very high end uber bosses, chasers, mc5 only cuts it for so long and most people sit round a post and aoe spam it anyway

Only coz apus/ppu is mental at the mo and alot of people might actually fancy a try at taking there char there like a spy or pe and as it stands at the mo some classes are pointless depending on what you wanna do...but i tried my pe in mc5, tried my spies there, tried all my chars there just to have a go.

At the mo most of neocron seems monk exclusive O_o

Im not saying that by creating a uber mob that it will be monk exclusive, but monks do alot more damage, with PPU buffs they are just fine and dandy, wich is why there used in most high lvl content near exlusively

Spose with the mobs they could introduce the whole hate system from other mmo's ie the holy cure has to be used to spareingly while the tank generates hate to keep the mob of the ppu but has to keep it up (provoke n such) the apu would have to use HH a lot less or he takes to much hate and gets owned... spy and pe would be like the lurkers who can put in plenty of damage but dont do it as rapid (cept slasher lol) For the pvm i think thats what it lacks the most and why ppus can be so easily used in mob fights (stand, buff heal db watch paint dry wait for low hp etc)

i like heavy weapons (not that tank toys), so i think kk should borrow some fixed guns and turrets for players, btw there is nothing wrong with indirect fire Artillery, as long as its playercontrolled and not fired by some guys in the off.-PS and BF2 isnt that bad at all.

i like to see some more versatile mobs that can use medpacks, h/s/d, and 2 different guns (area/normal). Yeh its seen in WoW

Open real Doors from Hacknet. all in all more smarter dungeons that need various professions. hackers, repair guys, constructors, researchers .... Seen it all in System Shock

Real darkness, working Flashlight, nightsight, Termal Sight. Seen it all in games for a few decades (and System shock :))

i dont like the idea of an Nbay because shops should be spread in town.

this is a never ending list (from all people who contribute that is)..

City of Heroes: character customization. Despite some hating or not likeing CoH, it still to-date has the best character creation setup, ever. You literally never saw the same person twice, there were millions of combonations. Neocron, is so pale and bland when it comes to non-power armored characters...

Anarchy Online: either A, a free trial period (obviously not as long as a year), or B some kind of advertising to get game out there for people to get hooked onto.

insert game with good vehicle customization; i want new color of vehicles, working doors, a first-person view mode, and maybe a different variety of weapons (only the trike can fire rockets :( )

Little known fact (or probably not) - Enlightened Acolytes and Preachers can self cast heal, though rarely do. Either their AI is bugged, or they were nerfed to stop them out healing runners. Imagine a level 100 PSI Monk mob that can self-cast S/D/Heal - and an uber 120/120 that can anti-buff? 8|

On topic though, I'd like to see some kind of reward for capping a char like in CoH (though an entirely new class would be too risky for the sake of PVP balance)

i think we should have a Central Bank Account, that all chars can access so we can transfer items without the possibility of someone we "Trust" running off with our 5 slot RoGs or something :lol:

and too the completely new char type after capping, make it like 2 chars combined. just dont combine a tank and a psi monk...blessed melee tank 4tw!

a central bank WOULD be nice, since item transfer can only REALLY be safly done using your own apartments (dropping the equipment in the doorway, and log your alt in that apartment, and pick the loot up)

Im also all for all the other stuff listed above, Id really like the "real" darkness stuff too, seeing how flashlights are kinds useless right now, cept maybe for people who wanna RP.

Also, some artillary (playermaned) would be awsome too, maybe after Im done with this comic strips Ill work on some designs

to Clive: if you can when ur done with ur comics, make a vehicle with a rhino base, but with a turret with quad missle luanchers that look like they could fire a ICBM from each tube =)
