I think most people use FRAPS (http://www.fraps.com/), not sure about alternatives and whether they are better or not.

Gamecam is another pretty good one i've been playing with lately.

Both of the above are the most popular choice. If you don't want to cripple your FPS in OP wars, and have enough money, you can get another computer to record everything that is being sent to the monitor to be displayed. Allows for greater quality video, but also requires a special type of card and software on the second PC I think.

I use FRAPs, merely because GameCam drew a black box over my health etc, so I decided I couldn't be bothered to fix it and went for FRAPs.

i dno why people always get lower fps in fraps maybe their vid can't handle it or they record to the same hd as nc is running on. but when i start up fraps i don't even get 1 fps less... even in a 10 vs 10 op war.

I too am the same. See no real difference when running it.

not everyone has supercomputers you know :)

Personally I can only set fraps to take 30fps as any higher and my system just doesn't cope. ie if i choose 60, the game still runs at about 30 and the video is mega choppy.

i could lose 50 fps in a 20v20 opp war and i would still run smoothly

alternatively hook up a miniDV camcorder to the svideo out on our gfx card (or coax) you should get fine results with that

then just import into premiere/vegas/avid

My computer is above general gaming standard, and my FPS drops when I use FRAPs. When I get a new HDD, I'll try recording to there and see if it makes a difference.

With my VGU set to High Quality, NC caps at 75 FPS, and CS:S at 60-80. With it on High Performance, NC caps at 75 FPS, and CS:S at 120-140. O_o

use one hdd to record to and the other to load everything else...

Sounds like NC has vertical syncronization enabled on your computer. Meaning the frame rate is limited to your monitor's vertical refresh rate.

i're doing this, i might to try it off vsync + record, perhaps that helps me out of my problems while recording...

A second harddrive for recording to helps lots for FPS, if you don't have one it will be unplayable, well for me it is at least

Against the forum rules to talk about software piracy, you should edit your post.

You don't even have a reg code for fraps...once you've bought it you get a link to the full version. Seeing your attitude here makes me hope noone provides you with a copy of it.
