Since I started to try and regain my old pvp skills I have to address a few technical problems, that are making it difficult, and as such I have to ask your advise. I won't address my ping, because its unchangable due to my geographic location; Its around 300m/s. No comment.

I'm playing in window mode and this happens.

[BMy major issues[/B]
There is a noticable lag between my mouse movement and its effect on the screen. e.g I turn to target but cannot move the mouse fast enough - Well I can but the movement takes a moment to happen.

Often, when I turn too quickly the mouse leaves the window and flies across the onto the desktop.

Now, my FPS passes between 45 and 60. Memory is 1GB.

Anyway to speed up the mouse movement translation?

Thanks in advance, Z.

I would try in full screen mode and see if it still has the mouse lag.

in window mode i get like 20-30 fps while in fullscreen it rarely dips below 100

I changed the setting and in 1920x1200x16 I get 30FPS stationary.
In 800x600x16 I get the same as Windowed mode, which was an average of 50 FPS, so back to Windowed mode the 800x600 full screen looks terriible.

The mouse still lags being the action in all modes tested.

It would be nice to made the windowed mode 1024x768, but I suspect my FPS would be even worse.

i always get that in windowed mode.

i use windowed mode for being able to alt tab in the wastes. if i can alt tab i'm not doing anything like PvP, so its not an issue for me.

better fps in windowed, but shitty mouse

Only by your hardware, if you have VSynch enabled.

my cap seems to be 100 (which is my refresh rate so i assume its capped at that) and it sits there quite happily but drops a little in a big fight or when going into a new zone it needs to load

Ahh yeh i have it on, because otherwise i synch to fast and cant move. I used those Omega driver for a bit, i got 300FPS and made my game crash, lol.

you can set the windowed mode resolution by editing the neocron.ini file...

PREFWINDOWSIZE = "1024x768"

Thanks Scanner. I knew it was something as simple as this.
Now then, whats this Vsync stuff about?

I dont get a vsynch option on this comp, but turning vsynch off can lead to more fps (its to do with the way the gfx card draws frames and i tend to turn it off for first person shooters and such)

I couldn't see the vsync option in the NC configuration nor under the properties tab in Windows itself.

on second thought, you should be able to turn off vsynch in your gfx card control panel - where you do this depends on the card...

also maybe you can tweak some more speed out of it with different drives, or if you know what youre doing overclock the card a little (not suggesting you do this!)

My FPS with vsync enabled is 62 and jumps down to 32 and back up almost every half second it never used to do this but does now as my HDD is pretty fucked, lol so everything i do loads odd anyway, should be getting a new HDD soon which will allow me to take Vsync off and actualy get some performance out of my GFX card as any load times especialy when playing sound in a game which needs to be read from my machine (i.e. changing radio stations on GTA:SA) my harddrive has a fit and slows down my whole PC.

Well thats my understanding off it anyway, lol
