Ahh the good old question, what introduced you to our unbugged *giggle* game of happyness
Mine would be when I used to play everquest(blasphamy I know) and I got bored and my friend was like "go try neocron, its a RPG and is FPS"
and now here I am, pray that nid doesnt kill me and wanting to go home to play NC
Scarus was talking about it crap loads when he went out to buy it and since i was with him at the time..... i picked up a copy (YES A BOXED NC1 :p) and im still here today.

found it randomly.
did beta 3 at home... found that the owner of a net cafe installed the beta 4 client on some PC's in his shop... and thus VENOM (or syncs UK, or Underworld, or god knows how many other clans) came over to NC.
beta testing... the time when you never left NC, had 1 number as a rank, and fought a warbot in outzone... ah the memories.
a time with no overpowered monks, where no one specced any resists and specialisation didnt exist.
from tankocron, to libocron, to the monkocron we have now.
even when i start playing another MMO properly... i will keep my nc account open so i can log on for a pvp session or 2. maybe appear when i am forgoten and show the new kids a trick or 2 :p
:edit: dont have the beta CD... but i got the beta 4 client on a CD somewhere i think (PC Zone CD or something...) and have nc1 too (mint condition :p)
Used to play UO before NC and the same person that got me into that worked at game (was EB then i think) and preorded us both a copy ( i dunno how the hell he knew it was comming out, I'd never heard of it but loved shadow run and it sounded like shadowrun online. lol)
Played Mankind, a MMORF click fest, then one player in 2001 told me about a game that was meant to be entering beta called Neocron.... Never got into the beta though :(
I played the Dragon Empires Shockwave game, and got introduced to NC by a German guy that was playing on there. I ordered the game from Amazon and have been playing since (although I did take a few breaks to play Planetside and WoW).

my bro (like usual) got me into it, like most MMO's he gets me into, he just randomly finds it somewhere and always seems to get into beta :)

Was CL of a CS clan, [B]roadband [A]ssassins (that's [BA] to the great unwashed though I seem to recall us using [BAUK] for a bit), and one of my 'clannies' was harping on about this MMORPG (didn't even know what that meant back then) that he was keeping an eye on, was due for release in the UK (he could have been in Beta, I don't recall)...
Anyway, CS was full of aimboting, headshoting script kiddies and policing our server was a fulltime job, as was generating the server stats daily (and updating the webbie), blah blah blah - so I gave NC a go ( as did several of us) when it hit UK Retail...
...well, don't think I've played CS since (maybe once or twice, the clan is in good hands now) - and the clanner who introduced me to this damned game?
DisgestiveBiscuit - and he now plays WoW with a couple of my ol' CS clannies and a lot of my ol' NC1/Saturn/CM clanmates (101st/Phoenix Mercs); still a handful of us left, just different Factions/Clans now (but I still return belts to an ex-101/Phoenix Merc 'clannie', sort of NC Old School Tie mentality I guess).
Saw an ad for the game before open beta had started, and as soon as Beta 4 started up I was in game. And the rest is history or money in KK's pockets....lol

I found it in a store a couple years ago. I'd gotten into randomly going through the cheap games and buying every one of 'em that were only a couple bucks. Found a few gems that way; the big ones being Neocron and Anachronox. THe others, eh, lasted me a few minutes or so.

truthfully...i got bored of what i was playing and went on dogpile and typed in MMORPG. first one on list.
Been playing fps online since the dawn of time (well quake1 test). Eventually started playing ActionQuake2 (after many years of QW) stopped playing that for one reason or another (planetarion!) then I played AO. Which was good fun, but I always wanted FPS style play in a mmorpg, so I kept my eye on NC early on. Didnt get the public beta because I wasnt a fan of planetdownload (especially for a 1.3gb download!), downloaded the offline demo though, just to be sure and bought the game when it first appeared on the shelves in the uk (then subsequently vanished from all of them !!! and I'm not talking about it being sold out, I think there were some cd key issues). Also managed to drag a couple of people kicking and screaming from AO. One of them went back to AO, another just stopped playing NC and I carried on in the TG clan MiG on saturn - where I have my fondest pvp/nc memories!
MY mate talked on and on about nc on msn that he gonan buy it then he talked me into buying it and we bougth it and i havent regreted it :D

Went to a multiplay lan party, i10 i think it was, there was a neocron stand, and a sexy lady coming round giving people cards with said come see me and my friends in pepper park
I was bored at uni - Had just watched Bladerunner and was looking up cyberpunk stuff - remember my bro playing it when I was home - and toddled in.

Watched a videogame show called Thumb-Bandits in mid/late-2002, and NC was on it. Looked kinda cool so I googled the name. Came across the site and signed up for the beta. Didn't get into the beta, so I ordered it from Amazon for my birthday the year after. Made my first character and the rest is history.
Heard about the beta tests, registered on the forums (old old forums, not these forums) and have been a member since. Unfortunately, I wasn't selected to be in any beta but beta 4 (open beta). Those were some fun times. :D
Saw Beta 4 being played by a RL mate in Summer 2002, and I went "That looks cool" A couple of seconds later I saw a overloaded runner trying to run across Plaza.
Then of course it came out, and hearing two RL mates talk about it on the way to work, meant I had to get a copy.
P.S. I've got 3 boxed NC1 copies!

Saw ramic play it, saw neptune play it, saw decimator play it. Decided to lend it, and played on saturn (back in the days of ASEN) then i eventually got my own and played uranus. Some good times.

Erm im really not to sure, earliest memory i have of neocron is some twat
stealing a 8 slot flamer i had (wanted it modded)...think i paid 20mil for it
hahaha. I really wanted it :D ....Oh yea and the thing where you could buy
illegal slot enhancers to cap dex or it may have been int. :lol: :lol:

I read PC-Gamers 'Neocron Diary' and liked the sound of it, then UO:AoS was released, and i realised i needed a new mmorpg, so i went out and got the box and never looked back (untill i went back to uo, then UO:SE was released, and i realised i needed a new mmorpg, so i dled nc2 and never looked back!)
looking for a game to play, found nc in beta 4, thought ohhh this is class,
second retail hit i bought me a pritty boxed vertion (with the 6weeks free trial and the sexi orange map <3)
kinda a totaly different game now since beta 4 :S, ba still totaly loveable
A news article on actiontrip.com saying that some girls were getting really pissed off at Neocron's M rating and wanted it upgraded to A because of the strippers. I was curious and checked out the trailer they were referring to and the game looked interesting. The two most impressionable images was a guy using a raygun rifle to kill a huge yellow spider and a hovercar flying through the city. I thought.. wow.. it's so big I'd get lost and I'd never get used to it! And the wastelands must be gigantic! Hm.. ya.. not so big, but pretty big.
I marketed it to other people as "mmorpg deus-ex".
A couple of friends got me into it.
Ostrich and Andilizer if any of you remember them.
A RL friend who played NC got me addicted.
Tuxy and Bursar got me into neocron if anyone from saturn can remember them.
Took ages for me to really get into the game but glad I did.

Back in highschool, a buddy of mine told me about a beta He was working on, and said it would kick the crap out of Everquest, and he was right, I dont remember his name exactly, but I do remember him saying something about how he won a contest (if it ever existed) or something... I dont know, All I remember about him was that he said he had some part in the creation of the Aggressor captain or aggressor models, I have no clue if he was lying or not. Anywho, beleave it or not, thats how I came into playing NC. :D
Geez, I just looked when I signed up to this community, and it's in August 2002! While I may not be active at all really, August 22 is my 3 year anniversary. :p
Anyway, I totally forgot how I found out about this game. I think it was a MMORPG website showing different games that were in beta, and I happened to come across NC, which was starting their beta 4 trial. I actually started out and only played for awhile, got a Tank up to /7 and stopped playing. :lol:
Then for some reason I needed a game to play and when NC was released (got mine early at CompUSA, I remember the hell on the forums when people couldn't find the game!) and then I joined the NDA (Neocron Defense Agency, a pwn Tangent clan back in the day for you newbs) and the rest is history. After NDA disbanded, I never recovered into the game fully really. I wonder what has happened to people like Centuri, Anima, Pitspawn, Cliffhanger, Aahz, and others. :(
Anima made a brief appearance in nc2 then left again I think coz of another little one ;). Aahz is in FF now if it is the same guy.

Basically, a friend of a friend.
My old pack of online gaming friends was inbetween games at the time. We had moved from various first person shooters, to some old classic hack n slash rpgs (mainly Diablo 2). At the time we were hot on Gunbound, which was cool for a while cause it was a more indepth Worms-type game, plus it was free.
Anyway, one night I came home from a four day trip to the beach, got online and one of the topics of discussion on teamspeak was this "new open beta for some game called Neocron". One of our regular buddies heard about it from a friend, and gave us a link to download it off fileplanet. This was back at the start of September 04, so we got almost the full month's worth of beta.
From the first descriptions of it on teamspeak, I was hooked. One friend was taking about the vast difficulty of mobs, how you could literally go into a sewer zone and beat on lowbie level bugs, but yet walk twenty feet and take a grav lift to "the surface" and fight really hard shit up top (in reference to Terror Maulers at the time). Another friend discribed it as a futuristic FPS with rpg elements, sort of a mix between Johnny Mnemonic, Shadowrun & Planetside (at least somewhat). Being a sci fi fanboy, and loving FPS's I was immediately in love with the combat system. It wasn't turn based, or auto targeted, it was completely unique. Other games like Planetside tried this but never got it right. Granted I demo'ed Planetside like three years ago, back then it really didn't have the FPS feel, locational damage, or indepth strategy.
So we played the open beta of NC2 for a month. The game went gold very shortly after and almost all of us started an account. For me it took about a month for me to set up an account, due to lack of funds. It'd had been years since I played an MMO, I played EQ briefly for like 2 months off and on (a few hours each week), and other than just demoing or beta'ing other MMO's I never found one I enjoyed. So around the end of October 04' I set up my account, actually hassle free no C2P problems, and was off to the races. Had immense fun in the game so far. Only in the last month or two has my fun & faith waivered. I know guys who've played four years and still enjoy it, for me I've done just about everything, and I wouldn't mind doing it again or over & over, just so many bugs put a damper on it.
So here I sit, logging in for an occasion half an hour every couple days, waiting for fixes and such. I do wish the price was lower, there are other games that have half the montly cost, course I'm sure if I didn't have to convert US dollars into Euro's I'd be saving a few bucks.
Still a fun game, I still think it has enormous potential to be a great MMO, it is vastly different than any other. Maybe more people will become hooked.

Liked SS1/SS2 and DX so when randomly get Nc Offline Demo i decided to check website etc .. and im around from B4 start .... miss ppl that were playing this game that days (all were nice, friendly and happy ... yea i know that when you look @ past it usually looks better that was) with some huge breaks (play 3-4 months then break half a year)
Sah a video in a gamemag where someone where fighting Aggies and Flamer Mutants in a TH Core. It looked cool. After i read the storryline i sah another vid where someone attackin stuff with a rocketlauncher and fusion rifle. lol, i loved the effect to much. fusion balls still got me hooked.
still think they are the best weapon idea from NC

haha !!! ive curcumvented websense :) well lets see a dirty compadre of mine named DAZZ got me into game. wow that would of been late 2002 i think..i was in korea atm, and inbetween work and beer i found crackathon !! been playin every chance i could get since then.
@ sultana, i made a char named ostrich is me biatch...once and ran around him in plaza one ...with my le in of course :)
