he's probably running on the same system MJS used to use, with that GF MX2 that used to run NC1 with decent FPS and no fatals.

i have 100 FPS pretty much constantly with fog off and everything on max, sometimes it dips a bit if something im running in the packground is doing something, never goes below 50 though.

my system runs below 30oC 99% of the time too, as well as being set up absolute 100% perfectly, so i rarely EVER crash:)

I have a similar setup. 3500 proc, with 1GB Ram and same GFX card.
I have a Gigabyte mobo but its the most expensive one afaik (£140).
Same hdd and chipset.

How'd u get it so high, over clock? or everything on really low settings?
I opt for quality and cap at 71 for some reason, goes to 50 ish in op wars (i think).

with a proc running @ 2800 amd. 512 ddr and a xfx geforce 6800 gt my fps caps at 72 or so to.. sometimes it goes above 80 but always jumps back to 70ish seems like a cap or something.

for some reason i doubt that 500 fps is normal fps -_-

Funny how one needs a system that can run as an application server for a small to medium sized company to run an old game.
I think something's not right with the software :-)

did 500fps capp in nc1 + nc2 in small appartments. something was changed in a patch dunno which one, it was befor 130 somewhere. NC is pure cpu based.
Once in my older days, i had a P4 2.0Ghz + ATI 8500pro (one of the rare ones these days with full mhz and big block screwed on (full set of pipes)), i scratched all my pennys togehter and bought a 9800pro. i switched cards, left all settings max and my fps didnt moved up a bit.

atm running 3200+ A64 / XP 64bit / 1GB DDR400 / atm 6800GT, was 9800pro

Thats not really the situation here.

Had running NC a long time on a Celeron A 333 with a TNT2. End of last year in NC2 for dual logging. It wasn't great, yet it brought me about 20-30Fps in unpopulated areas. Sure, when were are at P1 some fights up the crytons they dropped to 5-7, but hey what do you expect from a 4 year old system?

What i mean is that it's silly to code your game to use almost 100% processor power, while the GPU can take most of the graphics load instead.
The redesigned engine and dx9 are a major disapointment.

DX9? Well if you don't get bugged like hell and a serious memory leak from it you can actualy enjoy the more detailed water and some npc's. Not like much changed there, so i go for DX7 due to better performance.

Redesigned engine? Well, i fatal just as much or more in NC2 whenever i try to open an inventory window or manipulate something in the gogo.

I'm not kidding you when i say that 20% of my deaths are due to bugs.
(Which also means that 20% of my kills are due to bugs)
