Hi there,

At this moment I am levelling a smuggler (barter and pistol spy). Does anyone have suggestions on how much points I should spend on BRT and how much on WEP? I would like to have as much barterskill as possible, but wouldn't I be gimped if I put too much in it? Some WEP will benefit this char I think. Any suggestions?

50 wpl is ok but 100 are better and 70 is normal for a trader

Greetz,

Not much point in having more then 120 BTR. That should get you plenty of WEP points incl. implants

Is there a cap for the barterskill at about 120?

not really a "cap" but returns are dimishing (sp?) afterwards.

Just take a look at the PDF in the first post: it should speak for itself.

If u want to be a TRADER with Pistol (for what ever) then u skill 50 WEP the rest to BRT
Else u Want a PISTOL with Barter themn u skill 120 WEP (with imps) rest to BRT ... thats all Folks;)

My Pistol Barter spy has 82 IMP 100 WEP (with Imps) and 120 BRT at Int 78
--> BRT 142 is no Problem ;) ant look at the pdf 35% is really cool prices for an assault scorpion trike (lower than 400k)

Not much point in having more then 120 BTR.I hear this often, I know about the figure, and guess what, I don't care about it. Why? Because I want to see the data it's based on, as it mixes both barter skill and intelligence. Especially latter one can make a lot of difference on more pricey equipment. Secondly, if you are included in a construction process, you buy the parts, chems and lubes AND sell most of the resulting products again, thus at least doubling the effect of the difference to 120 barter skill setup.

Anyway, my barter has 3 base WPL (53 with implants) and 132 base P-C (165 with implants) currently (she is not fully capped yet, either). Without PA and without buff (and a LE, means one brainslot less) I get on my 120 dmg 118 freq 110 handling Judge 160% dmg, 267% aiming (=capped) and 158/min shot frequency. Alone the pistol 1 buff gets it to 178% dmg (=capped) and 177/min freq, which is 8 short to the cap. Add to this a PA 2, and you get close to cap a Slasher: 113 dmg, 112 freq 104 handling; 172% dmg, 267% aiming, 325/min freq. With 2 free slots you can make a guess what will be added there.

Thus, I can only add to what Jester mentioned already: With decent enough P-C you won't need much WPL to cap things like a Wyatt Earp, considering you can even cap a Slasher fairly good with just these 53 WPL :)

This is really important.

You should better use some skill mgr (like this one (http://home.iprimus.com.au/chandaffs/NeoSkiller/Mirrors.htm) or your math skills to determine how much BRT you will need depending on your INT level. For example, I know that an int-capped spy with 75 brt = any char within 70-80 INT that would have 112+ brt.

Completely setup for Barter, meaning as much INT & BRT as possible(INT154 & BRT 187.. from back when i figured it all out over a yr ago), you can reach about a 45% discount on prices. With 180 BRT & 0 INT, you're looking at slightly less then what that pdf shows. closer to 40%

100INT + 75BRT is around 20%
75INT + 112BRT is around 25%

I collected some numbers (http://www.mantris.net/darkana/index.php?s=nc&p=barter_data) about this for some time already, more tests will be done as soon as I can get hold of a LE PPU  Current discount is at 43.67% (183 BRT, 124 INT). Best possible will be 192 BRT and 147 INT, 146 INT with the current setup using LE (I wonder where the other 2 INT points come from; maybe I missed a drug?).

Spec 114 barter with imps and buffs and you'll get around a 30% discount. It's not that much points to spec you can still be a realy good pistol spy or rifle spy.
