View Full Version : (Football) - Infuriating Question - Help!!
Which player has a world cup medal, a European Cup medal, a Champions league medal, a Premier league medal and an FA Cup medal?
So my thinking -
- Premier League only started in 1993
- therefore the only european team to have won the world cup is France
So we're looking for a french player who has won all the above:
Thierry Henry - all except Champions League
Patric Viera - same
Fabien Barthez - All except FA Cup(!)
Marcel Dessailly - All except Premier League
Emmanuel Petit -
So i'm stuck but thinking maybe there's clue in the question... did this person get a medal by losing one of the finals?
Problem is I can't place a player in all 5 events... any ideas?
why france....it could be anyone from any country. silly boy.
brazillion more likely....good question though....am thinking too..

because they signed with a european team fool (sorry not fool...but really  )
the european cup is the champions leagues' official title
edit: so it can either be a frenchy or a brazilian.. since they are the only winners of the world cup while the premier leauge has been played...
obviously he could mean the euro tournement of international teams...sorry if he(you) did but thats what it is :P
no, the European cup is the competition held for European countries - it occurs every 4 years.
The 2 club competitions in Europe are the Champions League and the UEFA Cup
The more I think about this the more i'm convinced that there's not an answer...

Yup, European Cup meant European Championship and not UEFA Cup, at least that'S what I understood.
With the Premier League you mean the UK Premier League I guess? Hmm, that's tricky, my first thougth was Zidane, but he never played for an UK team AFAIK

Yeah - in England, our top league is called the Premier League
I've been through most of the french squad that I can think of and i'm sure none of them have managed all 5
It's really bugging me tho, i'm not getting any work done (and it's Friday afternoon :p)
sure barthez hasnt got an fa cup medal ?
im thinking hes the only one....and he should do...
Er
Your looking at it wrong, they could have won a worldcup medal before 1993, or have won the FA cup before 1993 aswell, so going on that since the prem started blocks out alot of possibilities
Looking at it, it could be that a player maybe won the euro championship at say an italian club, ora german club, then moved to england and won the prem there. now looking at it that way, were looking at players that have played within say the last 20 years
The European Cup is what is now known as the champions league, It changed names in 1993 your thinking of the UEFA Cup.
'tis a good point. but havent only man utd, arsenel, blackburn who have the premier league .
so duggary (sp.) maybe 8|
so...barthez, veira, henry, pires, think dugary was at blackburn...
sure barthez hasnt got an fa cup medal ?
im thinking hes the only one....and he should do...
Not Barthez, he only played for Man Utd in 00/01 and 01/02 - Man Utd last won the FA cup in 1999
European Cup winners from 1981 to 1993. Its someone that has played in one of these teams
1981: Liverpool 1 - 0 Real Madrid
1982: Aston Villa 1 - 0 Bayern Munich
1983: Hamburg 1 - 0 Juventus
1984: Liverpool 1 - 1 Roma (aet, Liverpool won 4 - 2 on penalties)
1985: Juventus 1 - 0 Liverpool
1986: Steaua Bucharest 0 - 0 Barcelona (Steaua won 2 - 0 on penalties)
1987: Porto 2 - 1 Bayern Munich
1988: PSV Eindhoven 0 - 0 Benfica (PSV won 6 - 5 on penalties)
1989: AC Milan 4 - 0 Steaua Bucharest
1990: AC Milan 1 - 0 Benfica
1991: Red Star Belgrade 0 - 0 Marseille (Red Star won 5 - 3 on penalties)
1992: Barcelona 1 - 0 Sampdoria (aet)
1993: Olympique Marseilles 1 - 0 AC Milan -
Not Barthez, he only played for Man Utd in 00/01 and 01/02 - Man Utd last won the FA cup in 1999gime a break i'm a scouser (supporter not actually a scouser) not a dirty manc.(which i can say having come from there).
its a good question.....aggrevating me.....there is no answer the end  ;)
edit: easier to say that only the 3 teams have won the premiership and look at said frenchmen -gives fewer options to start with.
i know one thing only. he wasnt from the USA.
people around here in general dislike soccer and love baseball. im pretty sure thats why the rest of the world hates us tbh.

Why Just french ?
What about these, their all the winners since the 1980 worldcup
Italy
Argentina
West Germany
Brazil
France
i dont know the names of many players over in EU.
but the logical thing to do is list the teams that have won each requirement. than compare the lists for members on that team. there will be alot of names/teams until you compare the first 2 requirements and it will get progressively more clear as you advance through the requirements.
dont know how common it is for players to swich teams or whatever but you get the idea. and this is assuming there is a player that meets those requirements.
argentina and brazil cant win the euro chamionship.
can you think of a german or italien that won the premiership (man utd, arsenel or blackburn) ?
-easier to think of 3 teams over a decade than 10 different teams for fa cup or european cup

Read my post up above that, and read rik's original post, its european cup, not european championship, the euro cup is what the champions league used to be called before 1993.
SO This player has won the following
Champions league before 1993 and since 1993
The WorldCup
FA Cup
Prem since 1993
well aware of that - and i raised the question in the 2nd post.
the 1st post states european cup and champions league.
i said they were the same thing. turns out he meant the euro championship.
there isnt a like soccer(football) online database that you can just mix and match stat's like this on?
Just a guess but Mikael Silvestre? Certainly a world and european championships winner, premiership and fa cup with utd, but can't remember if he signed just before or just after the 1999 champs league win?
Silvestre signed for United on September 10, 1999 costing £3.5 million.
dont know if that helps anyone. have no clue what day he would have had to have signed to get a ring or w/e.

Dont see a premeir league win in there though
It says 'world cup MEDAL'. 'champions league MEDAL'
MEDAL could be either a winners medal or a runners up medal, right?
Which opens up a whole new line of enquiry :p
