MSN messenger advice pls

Seems i need some help to see past the end of my nose again.

I installed the latest version of MSN messenger (version 7.0) and all is well for talking to ppl etc. Even a couple of nice new features.

But!

Someone tried to send me an innocent file (it was a .jpg) and i get the message that "person x tried to send you a file (ShavedDr0m.jpg). This file has been blocked because it is potentially unsafe."

I understand why a file filter like this is in place.. to stop anything with a virus etc, but how can i change the settings to allow .jpgs and pic formats?

Come to think of it, i used to be able to receive .exes too as the only ppl i normally speak to on MSN are trusted friends.

No clue in the help section (an online one) and mailing to customer support was a fat load of use as they didn't reply.

Advice anyone?

tried to send my friend a wma (music) it wouldnt accept it on her side, so I zipped it and it did, go figure O_o

I wouldnt recommend using MSN to my worst enemy. Well ok, i would, but only to enemy. Maybe not worst but enemy at least...

download the mess patch, this should allow you the option to turn the file transfers back on, as well as a few other things.

i hated trillian...

i would have a group convo, and a private one to slag one of the group members off... somehow the private convo was read by all in the group one too...

Omnituens especially, whose mess.be site was very useful.

I didn't go for the complete patch program, but i probed around the FAQ there and found the file extension unblocker. (http://www.mess.be/pafiledb/pafiledb.php?action=download&id=620)
