Now I have 2 accounts, I often take my hacking PE with me on Tech hunts in the Reveller chaincraft (when the damn thing zones ;)). To do this I run the second account off my laptop, which is a Centrino 1300MHz, 256MB RAM and a 64MB GeForce 4 Go (though I think Video mem might be shared). I was wondering if anyone has any tips that could improve performance somewhat (I'm not expecting miracles but the FPS is horrendous). Anyone know any tweaks that might improve it a little?

My second comp is a geforce2mx400 and it doesn't get too bad FPS.

It's all about processor speed, so i wish you a LOT of luck trying to overclock your laptop :-)

Just get a second hand computer somewhere and use that.

I play on a laptop with a 32MB ATI Rage Pro-equivalent card and find that I get much better performance full screen with no other stuff running. No mIRC, no voice comms, all non-critical services switched off, just the bare bones.

Not sure if this will make a huge difference with NC2 but why not put in another 256mb ram module? Should be able to find one pretty cheap if you google around.

My second pc used to be AMD 1600 256 ram. I put in an ati radeon 9600 and an extra 512 ram. I also advize to install omega drivers. It changed performance amazingly. But putting extra ram should be enough to for what you are intending and of course the omega drivers.

My primary pc is a 3200 1024 ram atiradeon. i love it ^^

Sorry if this is the "dumb" suggestion that you of course thought of already, but have you tried switching the display to 16 bit? :)

Callash, dont know if it would help him but when I tested, I got no difference at all between 16 and 32bit. And no difference between 800*600 and 1024*768 either... Colordepth is one thing but I found it strange that I didnt get a difference between resolutions.

Well, on my comp, switching from 32 to 16 bit means 50 instead of 30 frames in populated areas.
