I am currently working on the list of the worst movies you can find. I am doing it for a project.

So far the one that tops my list is Manos- The Hand of Fate. Watching that movie was torture. That movie was Pure BAD! Just plain Horrible.

Just name a few movies and tell your reasons.

my friend an i fell asleep during titanic.
woke up as the ship was breaking into 2 pieces - only to laugh as the computer animated bodies made the most obvious fake noises as they fell and hit things.

also spiderman 2 was the biggest single waste of my life ever. and ive wasted a lot.

edit: there are far too many bad movies. do you mean bad as entertainment or bad as production values ?

'invasion of the surf ************'s' (think thats the title) -is as badly made as a cheesey porn movie but soooooo funny.

Starship troopers 2 was absolute drivel. I can hardly believe i watched the entire film.
As for films ive turned off b4 the end; John Carpenters Vampires (walked out of cinema) and Hero ( why did i even bother renting that one?).

Not including films ive changed channels on as that would run into the thousands.

Are you including any film made ever in that question or just ones that have been released at the cinema?

Obsidian X

Robocop 3, if we're talking about sequels, is one of the most terrible films I've ever seen. And for posterity, I'd include the other 62 robocop films after this that went straight to video :D

A movie called the Mangler. Had Robert England in it (Freddie Kruger)

About a iron press or printing press (About 1 ton, 8 feet high 5 feet accross)

Anyways, fell asleep in the movie, woke up at some point where I remeber this printing press chasing someone donw the corridor

http://www.stephenking.com/pages/Works/Night_Shift/movie_mangler.php

Was written by Stephen King, and who ever chose to make this a movie should be shot .....

Most under rated movie (and probably one of the bset horror / thrillers) I saw growingup was The First Power.
Unique flaovour, cool concept....
Its like the movie SAW, in that it is better than published. I staumbled into the cinema to watch it the first time by accident ....

Yes, that's the one. It was uncharacteristically dreadful, possibly in part because it was poking fun at a film that was already a bad joke.

Ah that's not so bad considering it was made in the 80s. Did you see Robot Jox? Now that was a low-budget POS.

I thought of two more now :
TC2000 - Easily the worst low-budget sci-fi ever made. Boredom takes on new meaning for that one.
that awful Rollerball remake.

You do know that Mel Brooks sets out to "destroy" film genres right? Watch any dvd commentary he will state it for you. or any interveiw for that matter

11-03-05, 15:58
Yeah, robo jox, so much cold war and russia analogy there :-)

It's unny, when you go through the scifi departement of a videostore, you tend to find 50% SHIT movies. Same with the martial arts departement.

I mean, all those white ninjamovies from the 80's with the ninjas that throw exploding balls on the ground to disappear... HILARIOUS :-)

Ma dads a BIG fan of cheese sci-fi films that were so bad they got released straight to public access tv & video.

Circuitry Man 1
And if that wasnt bad enough.......
Circuitry Man 2
A few of us watched Cm2 after a messy night out before xmas, i cant remember a thing about it other than us all agreeing that it was all round totally shit. But it was so shit that it was actually good.
Maybe i'll give it another viewing.

But my personal favourite is "Silver Dream Racer" starring the dashing David Essex.
Its set in the late 70's, Mr. Essex plays a motorcycle racer whose brother is killed in a bike crash and he decides to use some prototype race bike that his brother was building.
Its proper cheese and with a turbulent love interest added just to spice things up further.
The highlights of the film are the scenes featuring the "high speed" & " thrilling" race action :p Which mainly cuts between old motorcycle GP racing footage and an extreme close up of a rev counter.
The heroic's that our good friend Mr. Essex performs to win the big race at silverstone are truly awe inspiring. He must have been about 2 laps behind everyone and then he just pulls it out of the bag and wins the race.
Sadly seconds after crossing the finishing line he encounters a monumental tank slapper, then bins it straight into the pitlane wall in a massive ball of flames and as a result its fair to say he dies :(

What a classic, i think i'm gonna go find my vhs copy of it :)

jernau
11-03-05, 18:19
How can a film in which David Essex gets blown up be all bad?

Actually, I have no desire to find out....

Saving private ryan is a cool war movie.

Alien 3 and 4
Robin Hood:Men in tights

that awful Planet Of The Apes remake
Van Helsing
anything with Tom Green or Adam Sandler in it
Ace Ventura 2
Deep Impact

Matrix 2
Matrix 3

You have no taste at all for lack of a better word, i sorted a few of the movies out, since i either agreed or had no knowledge of them.

but the ones remaining are good / great movies.

Jesus.. ive heard critics that had better taste.

EDIT: worst movies... hmm..really shitty ones..

Zonetrooper
Population 0 (the title is something along those lines)
Planet of the prehistoric women

LOST
11-03-05, 19:01
err....naimex......taste.....??? :p

as i said the little bit of titanic was funny the rest sucked so bad.
spiderman 2 was so boring, and so long for no reason i cant believe i finished it.

i wouldnt say private ryan was bad. certainly wasnt a badly made film. and i enjoyed watching it in the cinema (loud and colourful :) )

AvP was...and is....such an amazing franchise. the possibilities are huge. and the promise is always huge too. the comics are (mostly) awesome. the game was quite good. the movie should have been the best!!! but was a naff story with nothing special about it. <----maybe expects too much ??

Alien 3 and 4 <----maybe 3 wasnt so bad. 4 though
Robin Hood:Men in tights <----was funny when i was 12 or when it was made.
Waterworld <---dear lord no.
King Arthur <----havent, and wont see.
Mummy 1+2 / Scorpion King <--mummy had its moments. 2 had the pixies blowing up.
that awful Planet Of The Apes remake <--yup. cant argue
Van Helsing <----again..just why would you make them ??
anything with Tom Green or Adam Sandler in it <---not sure i agree. there are some that you have to get drunk with your mates and are very funny
Ace Ventura 2 <---same as the 1st wasnt it.
Deep Impact <--was better than armageddon.
Ghostbusters II <--lollers. it might be bad. but that makes it good. you know^^
Matrix 2 <---didnt live up to the 1st, and not so hot with effects
Matrix 3 <---oh no. it was funny because it was bad.

edit: also think that anything containing the 'madonna' should get on the list too.
hmm. spacing of comments havent worked.

I thought this thread was about films we didn't/don't like, not telling others that they are wrong.

Oh, Star wars episodes one and two, not worst films but certainly biggest disappointments.
Any adaptation of a Danielle Steale book (channel 5 must have got a right deal on that load of tripe).
Magnolias (or is it Steal magnolia, the one with Tom Cruise in as the "Conquer the cunt guy").

jernau
11-03-05, 20:13
those movies are great, any person who thinks otherwise has so narrow a taste that it isnt worth talking about.Almost every movie I listed falls into only one category - shallow, mindless, overbudgeted, unoriginal crapfests. You'll notice that many of them are also either remakes of or sequels to vastly superior earlier works (many of which I'd rate in my favourite movies).

I would say anyone that thinks those disasters constitute any breadth of taste needs to get out and see some real cinema. Maybe try watching something that was made for it's artistic or intellectual merits not it's potential to milk money out of a franchise.

Don't get me wrong I don't hate big-budget movies - my DVD collection has more than it's share - but those ones I listed are totally without merit as far as I'm concerned.

I liked Pitch Black btw - yet another example of a good film with an utterly unbearable sequel.

Few more to add :
Point break
Johnny Moronic
Spawn.

Johnny Mnemonic was based on a William Gibson short story.

It started off nicely, but the end was just... WTF. The fact that Keanu Reeves was in it didn't help, believe me.

And that razor-girl was LAME. Molly, I think. Molly Mirrorshades or something. Not to mention freako the cyber-dolphin junkie. *groans*

*sigh*

In that story, and in Neuromancer, Molly Mirrorshades was BAD ASS.

No fucking kidding here, okay? She was fucking bad ass. surgically implanted lenses with built in electronics, retractable razors under her fingernails, amped muscles and reflexes. Shit. That girl was BUILT TO FUCKING KICK ASS.

*sigh*.

Johnny Mnemonic, frankly, was a real disappointment.

Oh, and LXG, while it had some cool spots (Nemo's sub > all), it overall was just crap. just crap.

and they made a sequel. . why? wierd media exec's.

Oh here is another game to movie project Bloodrayne (http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0383222/). Do these people ever give up. They know the movies sucks, but they just keep going. If they want to at least make it decent. Try to stick to the basic story, and some of the origional characters.
I believe Resident Evil is the worst of the Game-to-movie project of them all. Who would thought making umbrella the worlds largest company in the in the movie.
