try a tracert instead to see where the ping jumps from 40 - 400

definitly listen to lexxuk, you also can't expect the ping on two different servers to be the same you know :)... 350-400 ping is what I had on modem 2 years ago, with broadband I get a stable ping from 100-130.

yea my ping is always 40 to 60 to. pretty stable around 50 most of the times.. even when i'm downloading on the same comp ( and other comps in the house are online to ) it doesn't really get unplayable ever.

Well, do you actually get any "lag" like say, casting a spell, but you'll have to wait a lil bit before it actually casts. Cause I have a 370ish ping and the game is still playable without lag.

when it happens to me i do. i know people have that ping 24/7 andhave no probs, but when mine spikes to 300-400 it takes 3 seconds to change a spell and everything fizzleseven if i stand still :p

Traceroute is a bad guide for speed.

When you run a traceroute you only get back what the router allows you to see on its interface, when in fact your packet might have been routed though six such interfaces but Traceroute has shown only two interfeces. This plus all the fibre relays et al., that you have to cross between the routers.

Traceroute is only useful to see how your packet went there and not your ping. If you want to know your latency then use Ping to determine it.

What Lexxuk suggests may give an indication of where the problem lies however, you won't get your ISP to change their routing agreements. If the problem is between your router and your computer then maybe you can improve it.

Sadly congestion is everywhere on the Internet. I average 250m/s at the best. This being that 250m/s is the best latency I can get as any faster speed is beyond the current capacity of fibre optic cable. My packets have to run from Santiago (CL) to Miami, though the US and out to Europe.

I'm ramblling - I'm going to go away now.

Traceroute is a bad guide for speed.

It isnt suggested to test for speed, its to test for anywhere along the route with timeouts, or a ping suddenly jumping from 40-4000, if its a nice even 20-60ms from a-z then its a problem between your system or NC's system, the route there doesnt show any undue problems. If you wanted to test for speed, you'd set up your puter to ping the NC server 100 times :p

Ping, ah my popcorn is rdy :p Just kidding :p But ping aint so high anymore, just fps that is going lower and lower, DRT and ops lags as fuxor :( :( :( :( :(

I reckon that a PoD would kill the NC login server as it would never have seen so many requests to connect.

Or you could of course Smurf it, but then again that would fall inline with server stability.
