every time i sync- press escape...resume.....
Join proxy session failed...

I wanna log onto a different char....Join proxy session failed...

IS this normal?

I don't get that now, but I used to get it when I had multiple network connections to my computer... Only way to go around it back then was to restart the client...

never had it in nc1, had it in open beta of nc2, never happens in retail nc2 to me..

Techincally there's not much KK could do about it even if they wanted to. It occurs because your character is still logging out, so the server still considers the client as 'connected'.

They could remove this, but then it may cause the server to consider a client disconnected just because they haven't sent any information for a short while (they're standing still in an area with little / no activity, perhaps a hosrt problem in the net connection) - and it's all of 30 seconds, so it's not like you have to wait long.

Having someone log in to a character that's already considered logged in by the server could also cause problems, particularly in, for example, apartments, where players are moved to the apartment entrance when they're logged out. It could open up exploits people could use to 'jump' out of a combat situation.

Uh, aren't you confusing this with the "Player already online with different character."-message?

The Join "proxy session failed" error used to come for me when I had multiple network connections, and it does NOT go away if you wait 30 seconds, that's for sure... I'd say it's the clients fault, not the servers... but what do I know... :p
