Just finished watching it, and I must say: Wow! :D

Great movie indeed. Awesome animations and the story was great... I think the japanese film-industry is going past hollywood at amazing speed ;)

Well, there are 2 of them, one released in 1988: http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0094668/ and one released 2004: http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0401233/ , but I believe the newer one is still on it's way to theaters outside japan...

However, it's very much worth watching, the special effects alone will blow you away. (It's much higher class animation than for instance what pixar does). :cool:

Think I saw the movie once, but I can't remember.... Currently watching Hack sign, which I find pretty funny at times :) (Imagine being stuck in nc, like you're living in the game 8| )

Is Cowboy Beebop actually any good? I've heard lots of people go on about it, but that in itself is not a glowing endorsment - lots of people go on about Guyver. And Sailor Moon o_O

I'm quite a big Shirow fan (I got GitS:Stand Alone Complex at Christmas) and I'm looking forward to the new Appleseed. Mmmmmm, landmates.

Cowboy bebop is one of the best animes ever (imo), it doesn't fall into the usual anime 'randomness' and sillyness that others do (like Naruto, which is other wise quite good) or at least, has it's own style of querkyness.
It's more of a drama really, and the film is very good.

Re: Appleseed. I had seen heard quite a bit about it, so I was a bit dissapointed by what I got when I finally got round to seeing it.
The storyline was too fragmented, they hopped fom one thing to another and just flowed badly.
I can only assume it was Mo-capped, which probably the best way to animate 3D, kinda looked awkward. it might have been better to use regular drawn animation for the characters and intergrated them into a 3D space.

Deunan had a fine arse though :).

damn someone who thinks cowboy bebop the movie is better than the series :) shame on you nid. But everyone is different I guess. And the remake of appleseed looks pretty good, not super super happy with cellshading technique (think its called that :)) they use but it looks very good anyway.

The series is soooo much better than the movie.

I agree it felt choppy in places but the original Appleseed was a great film. You may be right about it being cut-down, I just put it down to a style thing tbh. I've been waiting for the new one for ages, despite some reservations. AFAIK there's no English version yet (legit or otherwise).

@Siygess - Yes, it's very good. Nothing like Sailor moon.

and I doubt the original version is any better than what I'm getting from the CN, since i need the closed captioning.
