Ok, i'm considering turning my melee tank into a lowtech tank.
Will a 191 agility and 107 athletics setup do anything? Or am i wasting points because of a cappoint?

120/120 was the cap I heard a long time ago (from lupus I think) he also said that to cap runspeed with 0 in one of the skills you'd need 200 in the other. So you could completely ditch all the athletics, bar 25-30 you could have some even nicer resists? Though this was a while ago

My pe has athletics and agil nearly that high and i had never met someone faster then me. The hardcap is 255.

My theory is that agility and athletics combined must be 255 or more to reach the cap. But since they both contribute .26 to your runspeed, they both must be divided by 2.6, then added together to equal your actual runspeed.

The cap with your weapon is out may be diffrent. My pe is h-c and when his cannon is out he runs the same speed as most tanks run with their weapon out, even though my agil and ath are higher then theirs. Maybe the difference is so minimal i never noticed though.

Anyways i could be completely wrong lol.

Coulda sworn the cap was like 70/70 or a variation thereof

Friend is considering the same thing with his tank

70/70 was the soft cap. so everything after that makes less of a diffrence on total runspeed. Actualy i think its 75/75.

70/70 was said to be the point where you would get less out of the next points spent in AGL/ATL.

You would still run faster with higher points.

Up til 70, you would get full value of 1 point spent, after that you would get less than full value of 1 point, and the more you put in to the skill, the lower the value.

It was also said that you could put 140 in one skill and leave the other to 0. It should be the same. People argued that it was not so.

The test server isnt for testing character setups for the retail server!

He probably would be testing the effects of the stats to make sure they are still the same in NC2...and have not changed...heaven forbid anyone testing setups on the test server

Not testing chars... testing runspeed. You know to put the question away once and for all.

180 total run speed 100 agility 80 athletics seems to be a point as you get closer to 180 total you start to move very fast :) But very little difference speccing more. I think some people apear faster just by the way they move while fighting

fps also increases speed tremendously

*note: FPS - not ping, connection speed has nothing to do with it

I'd say that is correct I installed the omega drivers got a FPS boost and it felt like I was running so much faster.

Why is that anyway if its true o_O ?

theres been many theories.

i had a test char tank once, with all points in ath and agl, and he moved like the wind.

but theres like 10 miles of dead road between serious runspeed increases at high lvls.

so 70/70 or any combination of those values 100/40 60/80 is a valid guess for a softcap.

but i dont think there is any real max cap.

I dont know how long youve been playing but thats the funniest thing ive ever read.

Ive seen players have 70/70, 80/80, 50/120 and they all run at the same speed.

My tank has 50 athletics and 134 agility (melee) No one runs faster than him, everyone else runs the same speed.

The cap is bollox, 70/70 for pistols is perfect, a little higher for rifles and your capping.

Ive had races.

THere are diffrences. If someone runs very fast he may apear to be running your speed, but he will all the sudden apear ahead of you. He is faster.

my melee tank has rediculous amounts of alt/agl and when I get a spy3/melee3 I runner even faster than before. I firmly believe there is no real cap; the effect only decreases a certain % the more points you invest into either category.

I've never been sure about this run-speed thingy.
An official post said the cap is at 70/70. If you had 0 in one stat you'd need lots and lots, say 200+ in the other stat to reach the cap.
As far as I'm aware that's all the info we've ever been given. There were hints the cap was a soft cap, but maybe with a higher level hard cap. Or maybe not. Or maybe 70/70 was the hard cap. Twas never made clear.

My only practical experience is with my old tank in NC1. He had 75/109 and was pretty quick. With PA on it dropped to 55/109 and I couldn't see a difference, but my clan mates swore that I was noticably slower with PA on.

To poor Kopata: you didn't give many details. Is it just in 3D games your screen goes blurry, or is it blurry on the desktop as well? If its just in 3D games it may be you've got anti-aliasing turned on. Some settings make games look blurred.

i am almost positively sure that lupus said once that it was 70/70

and any variation thereof.

such as 0/140 140/0 70/70 40/100 100/40 60/80 or such..

i cant find the post tho.

like i said, the difference is mostly due to yours vs opponent's FPS. Good fps vs bad fps = 30% of your total speed.

Ping may have something to add into that as well, but FPS are much more important. Good FPS increase your RoF too (at least they did for me - in nc1, when i was testing my melee tank).

My Barter has 70/70 and i never saw a runner faster then me, only runners slower or with the same speed than me. It's funny to see how the actual skill how to play your char makes people seems run faster or slower. And the ping they have as well.

If you are interessted we could meet up somewhere on terra and do a streight line runcourse. Then compare agl/ath and fps to see which affects how much. For me 70/70 seems cap.

kindly regards
daniel
