im looking to upgrade to a 1 MB unlimited connection, atm i have ADSL 512 mb which costs about £30 a month

i have NO idea of where to look, all the sites seem to just have limited connections

the NTL ones looked ok but what other companys/deals are there that are worth looking at?

thanks in advance

See if you can get cable.
Usually get unlimited services, and it's generally more reliable (high contention ratio).
Think BY do cable. They're good for ADSL anyway.

my cousins with bulldog and its reliable, one of the cheaper ones, was quick and easy to setup, an allround good provider.

Force 9 (http://portal.f9.net.uk/my/mydiscount_info/landing_page.html?WRKUh%2Fz%2FuZ5dXmEjImm%2BIMWui9plRoKU0q2VIWc3ArE%3D) is who I use. £29.99 per month, they will swap you over to them without charge, thats 1MB speed, for £29.99, no usage cap, 50:1 ratio, anti spam and anti virus email, cgi space (50mb) and normal space (250mb) which is worth the money on its own :p

Or 2MB for £40 a month (uncapped)

/edit - forgot to mention, if you refer people to them, they give you money, so refer enough people and you could end up paying £0.00 per month for 2mb adsl :p

I have pipex, no problems from them so far.

If they have a DL limit then it must be insane, considering how much my computer alone pulls down each day.

Force 9 and BY have exactly the same pricing and packedge plans at this point in time, just that one is ADSL the other is Cable.

BY have a very low user to modem ratio as well, so it's worth looking into Blue Yonder if you're going cable or have telewest.
If you're on a BT Line I advise Eclipse.

Edit;
My BY packedge is 35/M for 2Mbit uncapped - because they keep upgrading my conn for free ... and because it's part of a cable packedge.

Blue Yonder is cable, he has ADSL, would stand to reason he's probably not in a cable area so would need to stick with DSL

If he lives anywhere akin to a town or city, then he probably can get cable.
The only problem with it is that you may find there will be a lot of installation work needed.

Not really no, you can switch provider too as you already have ADSL, but you will get charged a regrade fee for upgrading to 1MB, I still say Force9, I've been with them a few years now, great customer support, they have their own forums where you can bitch about stuff, and they are pretty damn good. Click my link before, gimme referal :p

Mechanicus
