Disclaimer: This IS game related, this is NOT spam, this is NOT flaming, this is NOT trolling. This is a parody of humor and to actually see how long a fix will take to implement while generating some ingame cash and/or items for one lucky winner.

Place your bets folks.

It is currently, January 2nd 2005 (est American time based date). 30 Days. Between now and say March 2n 2005 pick any day. No specific time, just a day.
Wagers are 25k to pick a day, limit of 2 days per person.

The day a fix for Terra's current problems is released, be it a patch, or a rollback, whoever picked that day will recieve the winnings. Now of course some people may or may not donate their wager (dishonesty is keen amongst some of the crowd) in which case depending apon person I'll stick up their wager to keep the pool even. Incase of a tie prizes will be split.

Items also may be donated, but don't donate something stupid like Stamina Boosters or Chitin Scraps.

So they have time to fix the problems, and give us a nice little fixing patch.

even though a patch shouldn´t be neccessary since its not a client problem, but a server problem, and the way i understand it, only graphical database corruption.

Problem is putting the wagers on a impartial character. I doubt a mod would do it heh or a GM since hey, it'd be humorous to see an event about when a patch/fix is released.

I figure at the end when a winner is found I'll keep a list of people and collect their wagers (25k for 1 day, 50k for the maximum of 2 days)

I was to understand there had been no or close to no, client stats or item losses, which then leads to it being a graphical problem only, and since it has been working before, it can´t be a screw up and must therefore be a corruption.

Since it´s only on Terra it´s wrong, it should be fairly easy to just use a backup copy of the graphical database / copy the graphical database from another server, since it shouldn´t have anything to do with characters.

That´s just the way I understand and see this problem, the biggest question I can see to this explanation is, if it´s only that, why the beep does it take that long to do then?

I know its hard to not debate if a rollback will or will not fix the current problems. But please try to refrain from so in this thread, cause that'll either lead to the thread merged with the other two large Terra/rollback threads or simply closed cause someone will start flaming.

When do we pay for the dates we ahve selected?

The best way I can come up with to get the prize pool together for the winner is at the end, based apon the last list of wagers (names/dates) I'll try to contact people via the forums (or ingame if I happen to know what of their character names) and collect either their 25K or 50K and then deliver it to the winner.

Not quite. Niddhogg said if they can't do a automatic fix for all graphically corrupted users since a rollback isn't required, then they'd have to begin a user-by-user basis of fixing it. So its down to can they fix it all at once (if so when) or one by one (if so when).

I'm not placing any bets, but I've got a vague suspicion that there isn't going to be a fix. They're going to tell all of us who're bald to get used to it, and just have the GMs reset everybody with giant squids on their heads or whatever to bald. If I'm right, then what they'll be thinking is that they were planning on offering more hairdos, etc, between now and when they get the outfitters working again, and then we can all just change our own hair. And since they think that'll be "just about any day now," what's the problem with being bald for "just a little while"?

I've been a computer programmer (among many other things), so I know that all programmers are vulnerable to the law that says that the first 90% of the job takes the first 90% of the time, and the remaining 10% takes the other 90%.

Well I originally set it for like 2 months (end of March), but then as time has gone on some people have pointed out things that make me thing that honestly, "never" would be a choice. You figure that they are just now coming off Xmas and New years, catching up on everything, etc it could be they'd just leave it

So "never" is a paradox really. I mean look at some of the old NC1 bugs that are STILL here in NC2. Now obviously they've never been fixed, but at the same time someone bidding "never" has to realize what position they are putting me in, cause how do you set a date for something that will "never" happen?

Best solution: if a fix has not been implemented by the time of the maxmium dates (March 30th) then I shall consider that "never" and award him with the prize (which I will then begin to collect).

Current pot: $850,000

Changes to the way things will be done:

- Since some people in pm's have expressed a desire not to pay out their bet's for whichever day they pick, I will personally pay out of my pocket to the winner(s) of whichever day.

- Since the days are starting to press on with no word on anything, if nothing is done by Feburary 15th I will extend the pool dates another 2 months (so instead of March 31st as the cutoff day, May 31st will be the cutoff day).

- If no communication or announcement or some kind of update isn't given in say, 7 days of today, I will allow bets to be placed in the "never" fixed category since people have pointed out: they MAY fix the items/models on players heads but may not fix the baldness/green and pink clothes issues either due to time constraints, not able to or whatnot. So in 7 days if we have no new information I will allow "never" as an actual date.

- Donations of items to the pool are welcome. Someone suggested donating common place "rares" such as psi cores, rine cpu's etc something that can cost a little pocket change but not really "common" ya know? (please don't donate items no one will want such as TG epic hand grenades)

- Even though they have said there will be no rollback, a rollback still counts as a "fix" so if they rollback to fix the problems, that does count as the date a fix is implenmented and as such those who chose that day count as winners for the pool.
