For a long time I've been letting myself get really lazy I guess, and recent events with my now ex (meh, thats why xmas sux) has left my uber brain frazzled, ya know, cant think straight, concentrate, my get up and go got up and went.
So I figure I need something to do, I need to get the old grey matter up and sharp again, I kind of really need something I can stick my teeth into, focus all my energies on!
Reasons for this are pretty simply
To give me something to do
To get my brain working properly again
To stop me thinking about the ex
To give me something I can think about instead of thinking about... meh, see still thinkin O_o
The thing is, I feel at the moment I have no interests at all, nothing is motivating me, I dont even want to play my puter games, even beating people to death with a baseball bat in GTA3 doesnt appeal to me. I dont really think I have the concentration level required to learn something, otherwise I'd sink my teeth into learning PHP.
At the moment, I'm facinated by MD5 hashing, trying to work out the mathmatical time required to break a MD5 hash, not including collisions of course, because even though they are rare, they do happen. Like, alphanumeric, upper&lower, thats 62, so say 1 second to compute 62 on line 1, would take 1 second to turn over line 2, which would require 62 seonds to change over line 3 etc.. etc.. But yeah, thats really boring stuff.
So, anyone got any ideas on something that is really interesting, that I can probably really get interested in and concentrate on? No, porn, hentai or sheep are not options Spermy! ;)

Funnily enough i was thinking of starting to play rugby again, i go too much time on my hands..but ive lost too much weight to play prop still....other than that all i do is tinker with a car/motorbike, or gym/boxing....tried to get stuck in a book?

Meh, my bikes still waitin for me to get around to getting a new piston stuck into it heh, besides I ride like a madman on that thing, dude I know (used to be a mate, but he's the guy that stole my two motorbikes >.<) died recently on a motorbike, hit a wall and bounced under a car.

Indeed I do have friends, but I cant quite spend all my time with my mates, so I really want something I can sit down and do. Getting drunk isnt really an option either :p
Oh, the MD5 thing, its seriously cool. This forum, vbulletin doesnt store your password, in fact the only place your forum password is stored is in your brain, or in cookies or whatever, anyhow, its only ever stored on your computer. Say your password is, for the sake of argument, password. You type in your user name, then "password".
What happens then is, your "password" gets hashed, turned into an MD5, so password becomes 5f4dcc3b5aa765d61d8327deb882cf99 Then the MD5 sum is checked against the MD5 sum in the database, if they match, they know its you, its really facinating subject to explore.
Now, of course, if you use a really weak password that is all lower case and just 5 letters long, brute force cracker will just be able to run thru all possible permutations quickly. What it does is, it generates its own hash's, and compares them to the one you want to find (i.e. 5 letter password, trees = 2d5563ed288ac5396add9b78fbca810b) so it would go a, aa, aaa, aaaa, aaaaa, and b, ab, aba, abaa etc.. etcc. well working up from a, b, c, to aa, ab, ab, to aaa, aab, etc.. till it hits 2d5563ed288ac5396add9b78fbca810b.
Oh, dont worry about your passwords in the forum databases, forum software will "salt" the MD5, which pollutes the MD5 so a reverse hack wont work. Although there is work out there on the web of people trying to list every possible computation from a to zzzzzzzzz etc.. because its a lot quicker to search a massive database than it is to run through all the possible permutations there are. So umm, yeah, i'm a geek :o

I dont understand the mutation though? as a+b was already shown as a b, so how could it be ca?
