If a player character dies in any zone at the same time that a drone is being fired, anywhere in that zone, it can be all the way the other side of the map, then the drone gets blamed. If the two are allied or neutral, then the drone's owner takes both a soul-light and a faction sympathy hit.
This bug is as old as Neocron beta 4, survived Drone Theme Week, and shows no sign of going anywhere.
Today, however, I got bit by it hard. I was leveling my droner/engineer character at the Military Base all day, and got bit by it twice in one day. That's unusually bad luck. But it gets worse. By sheer bad luck, both times the dead player was apparently a CityMerc. Now I'm at -35 faction sympathy with the CityMercs, and the whole Military Base is off limits to me. I'm KOS with the guards. This really blows, considering how many specific weapons and implants are only available to us Domers at the Military Base. I've got an alt that can do my shopping for me, but dammit, I wasn't done using the Bunker yet.
Now that it's in red territory, if memory serves, it'll be hundreds of hours online before it drops back to yellow. Am I correct in assuming that the GMs will give me no help, even though I obviously didn't PK anybody (being LE chipped) and could hardly have killed a CityMerc guard with my TL70 drone, let alone two of them, never mind that I never fired the drone anywhere within clipping-plane-range of a CityMerc guard all day?
And assuming that the GMs can't help me, anybody have any advice to offer? By sheer bad luck, the faction in question has only one enemy: one of my allies, the Twilight Guardians. (Frying pan, fire.)
