So, I have a GeForce 4Ti4800 on a 2400+ with 512 of ram. I get about 30-40 fps but it dips to 2 every so often and it sucks.

I'm using DX7 because I don't like the mem leak. What tips and suggestions do you have to try and get my <del>epenis</del> FPS up?

for starters get more RAM, I used to have same card and CPU, 1.5 gigs of RAM, got great FPS.

use the registry tweak from coolbits to let you overclock your card and overclock it. It can be found here (http://www.iamnotageek.com/a/39-p1.php) .

Now im an ati user now so im not sure how the omega drivers realy do for nvidia cards. You could go start-run-msconfig-startup and make some things not startup when your computer turns on.

Everything else dousent help much. I have all the tweaks i could possably think of other then those 2 and i barely got any more performance, so with those 2 you should be set. And besides that, they can cause problems.

BTW i get double your fps with a friggin radeon 9600np. And i have 512 pc2100 at nearly pc3200 speeds.

I get 20-60 fps with my 9500pro, 1.4 athlon and 512 of 3 year old DDR.
The only problem I have is the fps 'lag' that happens from time to time.

1 gig PC3200 DDR400 Ram
Radeon 9800 pro 128mb UNCLOCKED
Meh. I max my FPS, in most games actually, except when it comes with excessive textures, like if you launch a rocket in Doom3 my FPS takes a dump for 1/4 sec. HL2 rockets are fun though, and I don't lag with em, and then you know.. all the bodies and barrels go flying and then I blow them up so more and more...... Ramble ramble ramble.

if v-sync is enabled turn it off for generally better fps.

personally my comp is to burnt out to be reliable, it gets 100 fps in places, literally freezes for seconds every few seconds in others.

I wouldn't turn off v-sync, even if it gave you better fps, because of the rubber band effect you can get after zoning. You could try using dx9, that will give you a better fps, though the GF4ti is only a dx8 card so you'll get the broken pa arm and "slow login" bugs and such.

I've got a Athlon Barton 3000+, GF4Ti4800SE and a gig of ddr ram (not sure about the speed, but I'd probably think it to be pc2100). I used to use dx9 and basically always stay at a stable 62 fps, especially out in the wastelands, though it did dip abit during large fights and such. Though now I'm back to dx7 cause, I always had to wait maybe 20 seconds before I can go from login --> server selection. I'm getting basically the same fps as you, though maybe not as bad drops :)

Though that being said, the characters taking up the whole screen in the selection is starting to annoy me, I don't think i can actually delete some characters if i wanted to.

edit: I'd also recommend getting more ram, it helps alot within the cities, and I actually do think it gives you a better fps. Cause I can hit 62 and stay at it for a while :)

3200+ AMD64,9800pro using omega's ati drivers,1gb ddr400... 1280x1024, but sky off + distance maxed.
in app i get about 300+fps, normal wastelands ~125fps, cycrow op ug ~90-72, cycrow zone (not ug) i'm about 75+fps .... :(
hell man ... i get 550fps while humpin in q3 with my custom-config, but this suxx real in nc2
last time, i was in WoC-Temple, but it was just when nc2 started, i even hit 33fps in there :P

You can PvP fine at 20 fps.

dunno, i pvped with 1 to 3 fps in the past but youre screen looks like a slideshow and youre enemy runs around you in steps of 25m/step but its still possible :P

funny part where some former members of the new dawn yelling i should go get some skills :P (yeah few years ago allready) .. moment i made myself a nice (desktop) pc i could say the same thing to them :P

upgrading from a (4mb videocard, LOOWmhz) laptop to a 2,6 athlon sure made some diffrence in "skill" it seems, wonder how my allready new(er) computer would do with nc2 :) got a really cute videocard in my new one but as i recal NC never was that gpu intensive right :)

Went from 50-60 fps to 150+ when i changed to omega drivers though I have a 9800 pro ati so dunno about nvida

2.4 P4
1 gig ddr (shitty 2100)
7800rpm HD
DX9

I can now with the recent patches play a good 4 hour stint without crashing out to mem loss.

btw usual massive fps drop in doycc P1 and J01 as per usual
(dont get why doycc even when empty drops me so much, when I open the door to the actual middle bit my comp goes arrrrgggghhhh, anyone else get this ?)

Well thanks for the recomendations guys.

I'll try the omega drivers again and try oc'ing the card. There's a fucktruck of cooling in the case so that shouldn't be a problem. I'll give the vsync a go and see how it goes. Thanks alot guys.

(PS: Ram.. oh :/. I've got a strange mobo with 2 slots for ram. Both with a 256 in it :()

Omega: Installed with performance option.
Clocking: Upped by about 50 on each, card still stable.
Vsync: Off anyway.
FPS: About 10-20 constantly better.

I have a 3.0 p4

Any sugestions??
P.S. I did mess around with the setings for like a day and nothing helped at all.

I use omega drivers becouse it lets me overclock my videocard and becouse rage3d wont work for me. You should use the normal ati drivers with rage3d or somthing to overclock your card if omega dont help for fps.

All omega drivers are, are the normal radeon drivers tweaked for image quality without sacrificing much, if any, performance. I have seen some charts and stuff for other games and usaly ati are ahead in fps slightly. Sometimes omega does better, but not usaly. The diffrence is like 2% or somthing.

Just wondering, anyone use the DNA drivers with neocron?

When I tried the Omega Drivers-- I PROPERLY installed them. I did a 3dMark05 test before and after, and my score before was 2400 something. After it was 2200 something. Big downside for them. ANYWHO:::

GOOD ATI TWEAKING TOOL! www.atitool.com or ATI Tool, dunno if that typing there is the actual link though. Saw a 500+ increase in benchmark using ATI Tool.

Terayon

somthing you should know is that 3dmarks dont mean jack for fps in computer games. It gives a general idea, but its not good for basing how much fps you must get in games.

ya i love ati tool. that and radlinker are great tools.

Yep, i have a 2500-m clocked to 2400-2600mhz, depending on weather, with a 6800 from msi.
Second pc is 2200+ oc'ed to a 2400+, Geforce2mx400 card
Third pc is 2200+ non oc'd gefroce2mx400 also.
Fourth pc is hooked up to tv in living room, but neocron looks bad on tv :-)

Both use DX7, and fps on the second pc is about 60-70% of the good one.
Fps on both low end comps is about the same.
So get fast processor and you'll do fine in neocron.

remember if u get rock solid FPS of 62 thats v-sync killing ur FPS, no doubt about it, i used rivatuner to knock V-sync off, and i now get 150FPS in apt etc, 40-60 in big op fights.

Spec:

AMD 2600XP at stock speed atm
Abit nf7-s mobo
GF FX5700LE 256MB
1 gig DDR ram dual channel PC2600 i think lol.

I dont get any nasty effects from turning v-sync off, im running DX9.

Also those that said its all CPU and RAM im pretty sure its not cuz dont forget they altered alot of the gfx engine for DX9

Turning off v-sync causes the rubber band effect to start all over again on my pc, so it worth having my fps knocked off abit for that :)

As far as v-sync goes, having it on just syncs the card to your monitors refresh rate.

If you're getting 35 fps in op fights or in plaza 1, having v-sync on or off won't matter because it only caps your highest fps and doesn't affect your lowest unless your monitor is holding back your vid card by having v-sync on.

Example.
I get about 35 to 45 fps in op wars and places like a busy Plaza 1.
I have my monitors refresh rate at 100 Hz, since I never get over or anywhere near 100 fps in those situations, having v-sync on isn't holding anything back.

Having v-sync on is only capping me at 100 fps in places like looking at my appy gogo or a wall, etc...
In those cases I don't need 333 fps or anything over 100 for that matter.

hes right though... V-Sync causes the rubber band effect. it seems to only happen as you "use" something to zone, and i fortunatly no longer get it.

i hated zoning into aggies and boucing back to the spawn point for like 10 secs.... that on an APU = target :p

Why would you want to turn v-sync off anyway?
The only thing that happends is that the game "shows" more fps, but you dont
actually get any more, because your monitor still draws at the same rate.

For example, say you have a monitor at 70hz, and your fps is rock solid at 70,
you turn v-sync off and you suddenly get 320 fps, but your monitor is still drawing
70 times / second, so you dont actually gain anything. The only thing that
happends is that you stress your gfx card alot harder. Isnt that the reason
v-sync was implemented anyway? To take the unneccessary (sp?) load of the gfx card...

Yea, that seems to be the norm in my experience with the v-sync option. It's a hold back from the older monitors that may have had issues with their refresh or something. But to my knowledge, having the card peg to the refresh rate doesn't waste memory. Who knows.

For some reason my 6600GT has to have V-sync off to work.
without it off i get massive frame sticks that last 5 seconds between them.

Nasty and a shame because my monitor cop's out at 60 refresh and make's the game have visible tear's.
