i found out somthin a couple days back and let me know if its just me.

direct x 7 vs.direct x 9

dx7. you get shiny stuff but there are full bodies instead of just faces where u choose what character u wanna use.

dx9. no shiny stuff but no really annoying character selection bug

^anyone else experience this^?? ...i personally choose shiny stuff

What do you mean, shiny stuff? I don't remember there being any shiny stuff in DX7 :wtf:

yeah, I can admire my characters in their full glory on char selection screen (DX7)

last time I checked:
DX7 :
1) alpha blended water instead of pool-of-mercury mirror
2) no character clipping in selection screen

DX9 :
1) pool-of-mercury effect instead of water (shiny mirror-like surface)
2) sky can't be turned off.

The character clipping is just another of the Z-Order bugs, like the Drone HUD. Haven't noticed anything about the sky, but then I run NC2 at max settings on everything but vegetation :p
The pixel-shaded water in NC2 is AWFUL. I mean, WOW. Perhaps it was impossible to do the water like other games with the current engine, but even Morrowind, the first program I ever saw that used pixel-shaded water, looked better!

I have never seen this pool-of-mercury effect even if my card is still capable of it

My mirrors only work in DX7 mode, with DX9 they look like slate rock.

Happens both with my ATi and nVidia machines.
