I had to leave NC1 in April '04 due to moving to Australia and not having a net link that was good enough to play. The down side of this was I could not 'bring over' all of my good toys but what I happened to be using on the day I last logged. This kinda made me unhappy when I managed to activate my NC2 account. :wtf:

My first impressions of NC2 Terra server wher OMG it's saturn.. with all the bad things I'd experienced with it. I played on Uranus btw. For an unclanned Pro city runner I was kinda miffed at getting sniped by CA kiddiots in P1. Fortunatley one thing I did manage to bring over was my stealth 3 and a perfect all 120 SH... 2 mags later and a trash talking recently dead runner dming me I'm on his KoS list and his clan 'will get me'. This is not a good advertisment to NC2.

OK I thought.. I've a spare slot.. I'll reroll, I wanted to explore the new things without hassle. NC1 had a great player base who really helped n00bs. In this I was kinda surprised.. the ppl who'd come up and offer help was simply not there, but when I asked for help I was more than impressed with the support from runners.. Thanks guys...

The only downer there was again CA runners shoving their opinion in my face demanding (sometimes forcibly) I remove the LE 'So I could experience NC2 fully' Yeah right !

Come on guys, if the game is to survive we need to encourage the new players not use them a gank target.

It's probably a bad analogy, but I find a lot of CA runners to be very much like "Brown Shirts" (look up your WW2 history if you're not sure what that is). Even though they have no power other than strength of arms, unlike the real Brown Shirts, they're full of their own importance, and as some of the largest clans on the server are CA, they act as though it gives them Carte Blanche to do as they may.

Having said that, there are some fantastic CA people out there (heya Kaz), but I'm currently leaning more and more towards taking my Main Anti- just from what I've observed going on in DoY on a n00b alt I made for that purpose alone.

Like you I had a break from the game, even longer though - I played NC1 beta and didn't keep playing after the changes they made in the last patch from beta before it went retail. The first thing to hit me was the emptiness of the place - from teaming masses in every sewer and plaza sector, to just... barren. A real shock to the system.

i am amazed... ^^

anyways after some of the stuff I've seen, seems anything goes. No matter what you do the otherside will find some excuse. Could be the fairest fight and theres an excuse. Or that the same people constantly talk shit over trade-nc and provoke people to be asses. Maybe you should honestly consider how what you do will comeback at you.

Baeler....you chose a pvp based game. So why do you complain when people practice PVP?? Keep the LE in if you want, no one can force you to take it out. Just be warned that people playing this game are not here to chat and be all kind/nice to people. Most are here to fight, kill, pk, and generally do whatever they like to.

Why did KK remove most safezones? No, its not to encourage tradeskilling and increase friendly gatherings, its to encourage a more 'do what you want atmosphere'....and it just happens that a lot of people want to kill other people...

I heard in SWG, you have to ask people if they want to fight...maybe thats more the game for you ;)

erk, that's why I didn't say it outright.

No, I'm not calling CA's ************s, but Reeza is a dictator, and CA boys are often running around as strongarm militant bullyboys. I'm not drawing a direct correlation beween the National Socialists and CA, but it's interesting to watch some of the most disliked PKing clans, all on CA, acting in a very Brown Shirt/Lord of the Flies manner.

My apologies if you felt I was making an "OMG CA=************" claim

Hey! It isnt just us Saturners pulling this crap. Pluto and Uranus had it's fair share of tards that came across to NC2.

I guess you just had the misfortune of talking only to idiots. When I'm on my tradeskillers, if a newbie asks me for help with building/ressing I'll usually offer my services free of charge (the same with my poker but since the last patch he's tempoarily out of business;)) and try to answer any questions they have. Just the other night at Cycrow I was asked alot of questions by a newb and tried to be as helpful as I could in answering them. On the flip side you can get jaded by the notorious "OMG SOMEONE GIMME MONEY PLS!!!" newbs or the idiots who talk in all caps and demand that every drop what they are doing to gr to TH to poke them and dont even tip=/

Yeah well i can pull up a nice picture of what a brown shirt is . Has a nice little swazika armband on his arm . Things in any fight are not always ass the seem its not always straight forward how things start. To people who miss these arguments fighting ect is looked upon as omg. [ edited ], sure you can kill an allied faction, but what's the point? They're unclanned and you don't even know them. What people are just too lazy to head out to crp or some other DOY levelling spot? Yeah, that makes it fine to go around killing allies.

Myself, when I'm in either city on whatever character, I don't pk allies, hell think about this, I'm NCAT, I have been for a while, back in nc1 I spent half my time talking or levelling (nfing, but that doesn't really count  ) with TJ, even when they were BD and us TG.

This is probably the response Baelar got in game to... "Your and Idiot", "PVP Game", and he is someone who knows about the game.

1) When NC1 Started we all had a chance to grow our chars from scratch, in a growing community. The community was building stuff, had easy access to weapons, and stuff.
So it was easy to get weapons, and grow. Everyone was leveling so PVP so not as big a factor

KK Wiped all the leveling weapons, in their haste to kill off over crowded databases. So clans don't have access to leveling weapons. KK also made it more difficult to get leveling weapons, and you need a supporting community to assist with knowledge sharing

2) Community has so many capped chars, and no or very little growth, thanks to no international release, and on top of that, lack of real content (Sure we have 10 sectors of dome, with plenty of allies, nothing in them, Nothing that I can think of)
So you dont have many up and comming players who show promise, and intiative.
These capped players have forgotten how they had to level, and don't know what its like to level in DOY.

3) Larger clans co-ordinated well for the jump from NC1 to NC2. We hade a total of 40 chars come accross (2 servers with capped players) So we did not feel the strain as individuals did.

I feel for new guys, I did a dronner and without free dronnes and drone weeks it would have cost lots.

I think the community is not doing its part to assist new players,

I must say that even you CAN do what "the hell" you want, you also must read the disclaimer, especially the part where it says that you are not to hinder others gaming experience (e.g. GR kill him etc.)

So the rules are still in use even if KK removed most of the safezones. And the rules will still applie eben if you don't know how to read ;) By pressing connect, you agree to the terms of usage.

Second, "Just be warned that people playing this game are not here to chat and be all kind/nice to people." and yet oddly this "chat to people and be nice to them" happened on a regular basis in such server as pluto. That is truely strange don't you think. Hell even Counter-Strike has some players with intelligence and sportmanship, so please, PLEASE don't compare us to yourself, just speak for yourself, ok hombre.

I do understand the concept of 99% PvP game. That's why I play it, the excitement in doing basically anything. Being shot in the back while talking to an NPC, getting blasted to pieces next to a GR before I can even sync in, etcetc. I like PvP, but by no means Im any good at it, Im actually quite crap. No.. very crap.

What I dont understand, is the attitude most people (rightfully) associate with PKing and PvP. Someone snipes me while Im hacking a WB, I get a DM "OWNED!!". I attack random CA in the wastes from behind, break his knees and execute him on the spot. I get a DM calling me "ass" or "bitch" and down from there. Unfortunately playing this game I like, the way I like, requires a long ignore list, but the game gets better and better by every addition to the list ;).

So, if you're the type who enjoys good chatter, PvP and the 2nd "most-PvP-mmorpg" there is, I suggest you find yourself a very nice and friendly clan (like DoY on Terra), PK (reds) as much as you like, get killed as much as you like and just keep adding people to the ignore list as you go.

Indeed, it's funny how people say "It's a PVP game yeah, stop whining. I ganked you, so what" and instantly forget all the bitching that people like them do when they get killed :p

Why do people keep trying to blaim the current state of affairs on the item wipe?! That's like blaiming lack of tradeskillers on the increased restrictions on Lom's. Yes many tradeskillers vanished when they could nolonger hop between combat/tradeskill setups with no penalty Lom's. But the no penalty Lom needed to be removed, this should have been an opportunity to focus on what makes tradeskillers so awful to play that they needed lom's. Likewise now, it's not the wipe that made people unfriendly. It's not the wipe that stopped us from helping new players. It was kk's botched equipment distribution system!

If they had done it properly, most of us would have restocked ourselves by now and would be in the same position as before to assist new players. The reason we're not helping new players is because it's so difficult for even us to do simple things that we're not inclined to do it for others.

Also, I really dislike when people assume a new player friendly game means people have stashes of equipment to handout to new players. Outside of my clan I almost never gave people equipment, even new players I wouldn't do it for. But I answered questions, pointed people in the right direction, and showed them how to get it themselves. I was constantly answering questions on the help channel. If I joined a game and had everything given to me, I would be completely lost without the continued existance of charity like that. On the other hand if I joined a game and had the basics explained to me, I could do fine on my own.

Nc2 would be just fine if my explanation to new players wasn't "oh yea it's broke you hafta do A, B, C, try and find D, sucks eh?" Just going over all the steps involved in obtaining equipment now is enough to make most new players quit.

lack of tradeskillers is coz you either go for a combat or tradeskill only certain things cut a inbetween...

A-lot of ppl aint gonna bother with a tradeskill setup cuz as you say its a heavily pvp orientated game which means you need the best setup not a dude who makes 4 slot rifles and gets mowed down in 3 shots or something.

Int needs to be less of a requirement on weapons so people can spec trades without gimpin combat

Since I joined NC2 I've tried to roll a couple of new characters and I found the experience horrendous. The help that you get from the community is fairly pitiful - none of the big clans help out noobs (except by telling them to take out their LEs and then giving them a couple of con levels in return for some faction sympathy). With the lack of decent leveling weapons and tradeskillers it is really hard to progress, but more than anything its lonely and boring.

I've given up trying to level my CA APU cos there isn't anywhere you can go and level with similar rank runners without getting pked every 3 minutes.

Incidentely does anyone use the team recruit channels? I get more luck looking for a team to level with using nc-trade or ooc.

Incorrect, the big clans won't help you if they are busy or you are too "in their face". I am more than happy to help niblets out, as long as it doesn't involve powerlevelling (merely because it bores me to death). If you ask on Alliance chat, chances are there will be someone that can help you.

If you can, put your LE back in and go level at MB. If you are too high a level now, try and get a small team together using whatever methods to go hunt in a remote area, then you have less chance of being ganked.

And yes, its better to stick to OOC (not Trade :p ) or Alliance/Faciton chat to level as they are the most used channels.

Tradeskilling used to be cool in Star Wars: Galaxies. (1) Enjoy your harvester maintenance ... if you can get to them at all, what with high level aggro mobs spawning right on top of them on days that you need to maintain them or risk losing a building that cost more than a small starship. (2) Enjoy endlessly grinding the same 4 items while doing combat missions to pay for the harvesters and/or resources, because nobody in that game wants anything that wasn't built by a master, same as here. (3) Enjoy competing with players who're getting their resources for free via exploits or item dups. (4) Enjoy having to sack half of your skill points into a worthless, broken skill (Merchanting) just to be able to offer more than 50 items in your shop or appear on the map. (5) Enjoy the endless thrill ride that is restocking expired items in your vendor list, I know it was taking me 20 to 30 minutes a day just to keep my vendor terminals open, not even counting restocking merchandise or obtaining resources, and if I missed three days in a row then tens of thousands of credits worth of expired merchandise would simply disappear for good.

One of the reasons that I switched to SWG was that it had better systems for things like tradeskilling and vending. Tradeskilling and vending sounds good in SWG, but when you get to know it, it actually sucks worse than in Neocron.

Yeah, I know what you mean. The number of asshats is proportional to the server pop. Saturn had the highest pop, therefore it seemed to have the highest pop of asshats.

Although, it seems I meet more asshats from Uranus and Pluto, as they have this fascination that being from a server other than Saturn makes them uber. That and I am used to the Saturnite attitude to NC.

Well somewhere on the "box" it states that NC is an MMORPG as well not just an "king of the hill" FPS.

My hopes for NC-2 was that the new faction layout would improve the "US vs THEM" spirit in the game, guess that was to hard for the "Meh KeeE333L7777 Joo" kids out there who cant understand why all MMORPGs has some form of a factionsystem.

The more i read this forum the better i feel about the fact that i quit the game.
