I've got a feeling that i have a trojan sneaking around on my PC, or something is doing something to my PC to make it break

Is there a decent free trojan scanner out there. I've had a look but not sure which one to go for.

Go with all of them. Higher chance of cleaning up any nasties then, right?

EDIT: But I run AVG, Spybot - Search and Destroy and AdAware once a week, usually cleans up.

trojans can be alot harder as they can make many registry changes and stuff and chances are it will reinstall its self upon next system bootup. If you know the name of the trojan do a web search on how to remove it and manuely remove it sometimes its only way :\

TDS -a very decent & free (for a month) trojan remover (http://tds.diamondcs.com.au/).
If it's specifically a trojan that you're having a problem with this will find it.

Chances are, if your svchost.exe is bigger than 13KB, you got a trojan....

While Adware and Search and Destroy can identify them, they can't always remove them...
Like Lil T said you'll have to manualy do it, which involves terminating the running processes, deleting the exe's and editting the registry...

Good luck....

And I could have told you not to d/l that HL2+crack..... ;)

Well i've removed anything that i can find but i am still having problems with my PC, so maybe its more than a trojan or something.

Recently my PC has just started to randomly reset/shut down itself. Or the keyboard/mouse/monitor, just stop working while it is running causing me to have to hit the reset button.

The PC then has been having trouble booting up, where it will have power but nothing will happen and it will take many attempts at resetting, powering down and on again to get it to start up. Only for it to then at somepoint stop working correctly.

Since the problems have started i have noticed that in my device manager i have two new items, of which i know i do not actually have and have not installed, the infared modem port, and infared port:

No idea where they have come from but it is only recently that they have appeared. I've tried to delete/uninstall both of them only to be given the same message for each one:

I'm at a dead end with ideas on what to try next, anyone able to help?

Ok you apparently need a vast Greek army of 12th century BC to get rid of your trojan, trojans were smart people.
