View Full Version : Vehicle weeks ideas anyone?

Just suppose KK ever were to make a vehicle week (after player shops, WOc etc). Which ideas do you have for them?

-Fix long synch problem when drugging up to use vehicle.
-Fix disappearing vehicle, so you have to get out, fall to your death.
-Fix gliders and bombers sliding down hills.
-Fix gliders blowing up for no reason at all

-Put reqs of combat glider back to normal levels. Right now, nobody uses them because a STR60 spy? duh. A STR60 pe with enough veh? duh.
-Give us parachutes so we don't die when falling out (wear like pa)
-Increase aiming on 20mm guns (not so much recoil)
-Give the pilot of bombers a small reticle of the bomber seat, so he knows where to fly. It's hard enough to pilot as it is.
-Make two new vehicles. (a yellow cab, and a helicopter)

Maybe an option to "dismiss" our vehicles by using out own vehicle? Or make more vec depos (and it desperately needs a new model too) to "hot spots" they are too few and far apart.

A mobile station style vehicle that you can use to attack ops, heavy 6 seater and slow, has a gogo and such, maybe two turrets. Would be nice to have in OP wars in balance to monking. Maybe a teleport or somehing, drop a beacon on some place, drive the truck to OP and people can teleport to the vehicle through that beacon or something.

Vehicles definedly needs more abilities than they have right now.

gliders mostly blow up when:
- you roll it upside down (instant blow-up)
- you crash it into invisible geometry(sudden speed and craft hlt loss)
- you fly too high (and crash into ceiling?)

By geometry I call sharp-shaped objects in wastelands (everything that's not terrain). Like buildings, outposts, GRs, gogos etc.
So most geometry in wastelands has uber-tall collisions, so you can't fly ABOVE them, only ASIDE them. That's all about evading invisible geometry. Observe ground and treat all objects as of infinite height.

Flying high is plain wrong, it brings 3 hazards :
1) you can fly too high and crash into ceiling
2) you lose ground from view and can become disoriented and turn craft upside down
3) you lose ground from view and can't see geometric objects to evade them.

Not all objects are infinite tall, but it takes alot of practice to learn to distinguish them (I can't). So flying above OP to bomb it is probalby most difficult and risky task a pilot can undertake.

It's all about skill... I say leave gliders as they are, it's HARD to fly and not every n00b can do it. That's how it should be imho.

Of course there still are zoning problems: when zoneline does not catch craft, you fly past it, and of course crash into zone end at full speed. But that's general problem with zoning, gliders only highlighted it.

Give the vehicles a range of colours. Especially the little red car....may not be much of a change but seeing a wider variety of coloured cars would be awsome. Make one colour a rare one that can only be obtained by a run, make that 20% faster and stronger than the same types of vehicles.

haha, how true. It doesn't need to be ANY better then original, simple colour change will make it worth enough.
hmm, how long we're moaning for limited-edition black Rhino ?

Imho there are enough Vhc-Depots around the map

Two (or three) at NC Entrance
one at each TH Entrance
one at MB
one at Battledome
one at Desert Race Track
one at old TG (at least i think so, is it still working ?)
one at each DOY Entrance

Pretty well spread imho

You are correct that there are vhc depos in where they should be, but I think that few more wouldn't hurt, especially if they made a new model for the depo that would be bit smaller.

I think there would be great places for them at crp, gaia mine entrance (the one that leads to the real mine, don't remember what it was called right now), in swamps (that is one of the must places, I used to go there often but now it is too far away), I believe there is one near eastgate or soliko but if not there one.

But we can forget these if we just could dismiss our vehicle just by using it any where, because currently the travel between vehicle depots are is just useless, you still have to walk several zones if you don't want to risk someone coming and destroying your vehicle when you get there.

Like customizable apartments custom vhcs nothing but the chasis then you buy the seperate parts

Buy like a rhino body, no turret no colour nothing just the shell, then have special vendor or even have a big NEXT workshop type vhc garage at tech haven where you can drive your vhc down
Spray paint, logos, turrets, guns, wheels, engine mods.

Now turret wise (keeping balance in the pic but rhinos should be noticably uber whatever wep since anti vhc rockets are pretty goodn) could be anything like dual rocket turrets, pb turret beam colour mods, flame turrets, diff bombs poison, napalms etc.
Smaller vhcs maybe mount chain guns etc on, have some landspeeder buggy type things that just zoom over most terrain and a vhc that can be used by everyone with like 5 dex 0 vhc req so we can drive around gr taggin, just make it slow, like some junkyard car or something.

Put a few hours waiting time on moddin like a period of no vhc use to show work heh.

Alot of the combat vhcs i think shouldn't be so specialised so more ppl can use them but make some very specialised vhcs for the pure drivers which are a cut above the rest, give them a reason to use them a-lot, get rid of the skill rank in turret crap so ppl can hunt properly.
Mammoth Tank rhino with mr drone style rocket pods and the particle beam cannon for the best of the best with a few machine guns someone or a big heavy Gunship :D


Edit - and on second thoughts about driving ideas and something for extra time missions about some Vehicle Licenses :D Driving tests for cars, bikes etc special military training for the bigger vhcs, also a sneaky way to teach people about extras you've added and maybe give ppl some other rp (traffic police lol)

- recyclable repair nanities.
- make it possible for the passenger to repair and cast spells without getting out of the vehicle.

I've also been thinking about how to make vehicle weapons more configurable. I think the gunner seat in the reveler and scorpion trike and other vehicles like that shouldn't have a permanently mounted weapon. Instead there should be a class of heavy weapons that are simply too heavy to carry. The gunner sits in the vehicle, the driver drives to a gogo and the gunner pulls out his vehicle weapon. That way we could have some variety in weapons including rares, slots, etc.

Another thing that's quite annoying when one person is driving and the other is shooting is the sync problem for where the gunner vs. driver sees the vehicle. When I drive, I can stand on top of the mob we just killed waiting for the gunner to loot it, while the gunner sees it somewhere else. One possible solution to this would be to allow everyone in a team to loot everything killed by team members.

Oh. And allow a driver to hack without getting out of his vehicle. I hate being close to loose my scorpion while hacking (never lost it, but it has been close a few times) just because someone decided that it would be fun to blow up my vehicle just because he can't blow me up (I'm LE:d).

Everyone has their own priorities. It's quite rude to hijack threads just because they are asking for something you don't find interesting.

How about these
*Remove glider crash damage till they can "fix" it
*Fix reqs on specific vehicles

*"MAYBE** lower the base reqs on gliders? (please? :D )

*add color options for vehicles*
*add faction tagging for vehicles*
*add vehicle customizations *(different weapons, armor, engines)
*MECHS DAMNIT* :D
*"air ports" at each City entrance, for easy take off and landing of glider vehicles*
*Add vehicle trunks*
*A hard top for assault trikes, or better turning, And "doors" for 4x4 chaincraft*
*The ability to gun from "Shotgun" possitions*
*Land -anti-tank- Mines (for tanks, Duh)

I know a messload of these ideas have been tossed around, I just wanna bring em to the front, and btw

Make vehicles more affordable, easier to obtain and build, and make all of them researchable...

oh, and a vhc gogo/storage compartment....

I would be happy if you could just strap a Rotten Box on a Rhino....

Faction/clan tags on vehicles, i want to know who is who.
A cactus or bike shouldn't be able to stop a huge rhino.

a selection of different paint schemes, like a garage you can drive in with a rokkwear selector style thing for vehicles.

Different turrets would be sweet, AA guns to take out Gliders would rock too :p

and remove glider impact damage till its fixed to a reasonable level

Faction symbols for vehicles are a must, maybe every faction has their own colorsheme (and please, PLEASE, not those dumb light tricks like you did with the PAs, we need SKINS).

The landingstrip for gliders on city locations is a great idea, would be cool looking, Doy has thins dirt road field and couple of shacks in there and NC has this bit more "organized look" with a paved road and some concrete buildings.

Which reminds me, it would be cool to have some sort of theme going on around wastes on DoY and NC sides, NC would have paved roads and fixed bridges and so on, DoY side would have dirtroads and underground bunkers and some tunnels dug through those mountains in canyon areas.

And maybe the roads going TH would be little better designed, more flat like real roads :rolleyes: and tunnels if there are big mountains on the way. Would make more charateristics in to the world.

And built vehicles could have slots where you can add a weapon of choise, it would make player created vehicles more attractive. A tank wouldn't have a weapon automatically (but turret would be there ofcourse).
