I have to agree with you jester, the hud on this baby is the great.
I wish NC had something like HL2 or even HL1 for that matter, the weapons showing when you press the weapon button is pretty nifty and you can keep one in the selection choise but don't have to actually pull it is neat too. And when you use your flashie or run the aux meter pops up.

It's a great game, nice bunny and all.

/edit oops didnt see the tiny caption above that pic, but still a good point. so how many other movies did Valve use as "inspiration" in this game?

Oh my god a tall creature with 3 legs, yeah cos they havnt been done at all have they.

Apart from war of the worlds creatures are mechanincal and move at incredible speeds, driven by two aliens.

Striders are organic living creatures who just happen to be tall with 3 legs.

Heh, actually, the striders are meant to be robots, someone tells you towards the beginning of the game.

But still, HL2 > War of the Worlds.

I thought the Striders were like an organic "brain" in side an armoured shell thingy, same for the Gunship/Dropship (not the apache style chopper at the begining)

Striders come from the same "arsenal" as the dropship and gunship, as for they are organic "living weapons", nothing like War of the world tripods, besides striders move in way faster pace, are more agile. There were similar things in League of extraordinary gentlemen vol.2
