nc2 not working on my new pc

my parents just got a new family pc
nothing amazing justa
Intel® Pentium® 4 Processor with HT Technology
(3.0GHz, 800fsb, 1MB cache)
512MB DDR RAM
160GB Serial ATA Hard Drive (7200 RPM)
128MB PCI-Express ATI Radeon X300SE
Microsoft Windows XP Home Edition


the problem is this
i dl nc2 ,installed, and patched fine
but when it gets to the username and pw page in the game
it cant connect to the server.

if any 1 haz any idear why it is doing this plz help

p.s i have tryed reinstalling nc2

i had the same problem i think i couldnt see any login details or sever lists a reboot fixed it if i rember rightly

Disable the norton antivirus auto protect in the taskbar. (if you have that)

If I have it on I have the same problem.

As you can see from the mssgs of other peoples there are a lot of options possible.... but.. do you have an internet connection? I didn't see anything about a modem or NIC on your list :lol:

I had the same issue when I first started my trial but when it was trying to connect to the server I alt-tabbed (to check if my firewall prompted me or something) and when I switched back I got in. I only had to do this once, I can now log in anytime without having to alt tab again. strange ? indeed. 8|

This also happens to me everytime when I start a fresh game of WCIII, every time I launch the program and want to go into multiplayer I need to alt-tab before it will actually connect to the server. i have no idea why this is happening. all my other games work fine :wtf:


BTW do you have SP2 installed? did you turn off the windows firewall as well?

I have SP2 installed and it works fine, I only had to specify once that I want to allow the connection to pass.
be carefull however if you have a third party firwall as well, you might need to setup an advanced rule for the client

Even when firewalls are switched off they can still be a pain in the ass - Zonealarm is notorious for that. Switch it back on and make sure the Neocron client is cleared for access. You can then turn it off again if you like. Also make sure you don't have a 100 utilities running in your system tray because they can interfere too. Close them and try again.

check and make sure that SP2 firewall for your connection (wireless/LAN/DSL/etc.) is turned off as well. sometimes that shit stays on for one of your connections even though you think its off. go to connections and right click, you should see it there I think.

It really does sound like a firewall problem....

you said you got SP2 on there... so have you disabled / allowed NC to work on the crappy windows firewall as well as whatever you have (if you have one)?
