Neocron 2: Tech Help Please (Problem)

I installed Neocron 2, Downloaded the patches, installed DirectX9, restarted my pc, patched the client, now when I start it opens up as if it's going to start, then minimizes and closes itself.

How do I "downgrade" DirectX?

I did a file check everything was fine

Uninstalled the game

Reinstalled it

Repatched it

It still does the same

It doesn't let me open anything, when i open the game it minimizes it and same for the config

I know what your talking about, NC does that on my 2nd PC, i thought it was b/c it had server 2003 on it though as it worked perfectly when it used to have XP pro on.

Maybe it has something to do with a firewall setting or Norton Internet Security or something like that?

If you're running an ATi card, close the little ATi icon in the system tray, that was causing problems for some people also, but I don't remember what..

I had the same thing, my firewall (Zonealarm) was causing it, after I configured that it worked great. Hmm but at the same time I upgraded my gfx card drivers to the Omega drivers but I'm quite sure it was the firewall.

Just upgrade your drivers. I was messing around with mine, trying out different things, and with the 71.89 (I think) drivers the game just minimized when I loaded it and cut itself out.

Just try upgrading them.

your ini file is fucked up. Get it sorted (there is no graph driver selected atm)
I don't have an nc install atm, but if anyone cares to post their ini file. You'll prolly be able to copy paste it from someone elses ini

as graph card driver it should say something like D3D9 *insertmoretext*

No idea if that'll help, but try it. Can you play any other games? What are the contents of the log files in the log directory? Look at init.log, it has lots of goodies in there that could help.

you can copy paste the sound stuff for sure, been too long since i busied myself with things like this.

I dunno if it's still possible but you could try to set the prefdriver to software
and then use the launcher to set the graph driver you want to use.

Also, what happends if you start the launcher, for a second i tought you said you can't launch the launcher :wtf:

I so hope you are on a pc and not on a mac or some other ... alternative .. os
