I aint played ppu monk much,but i now have a pretty highish level ppu.

Just wondering what everyone else has there quickbelt setup like? its frustrating having to keep switching your spells over and leaving room for psi boosters.

for example..

slot 1 : heal
slot2: para
slot3: shelter
etc etc..

Which setup do you find works best?

In retrospect maybe having damage boost moving to two and everything between moving down one may be better but I got used to it this way. IMO though, Anti-para is pretty needed in your pvp quickbelt, as well as 2 slots for psi boosters if you can afford them. Hope this helps. :)

Edit: I just switch out Heal Sanctum and Holy Rez when I actually need them.

Btw, about my setup, I use esdf as my move keys, so that means i can hit key 2 for damage boost easily, hit 3 for shelter, scroll down for deflector. Hit 5 for haz and scroll down, and 7 is still within reach for whatever is there. I've got slots 1, 9 and 10 bound meaning there good to reach.

In pvp the main spells you will be using are Heal, shelter and def (and depending on who your fighting) antipara. So keep those in as easy place to reach as possible.

if my PPU dies, i can loose whatever, i got everything spare or x3, but i only got 1 dmgboost...

i died at some time and lost my dmgboost, still dont got it back, 2 lazy 2 buy 1.

Yes, I keep a psi booster in my safeslot : ) I'm an ollllldddd ppu, made this setup before the safeslot existed and got used to it. Saw no reason to change, since I'll lose something valuable nomatter what I try to protect with a safeslot. Plus it's really hard to change quickbelt setups, I tried once and was a complete wreck. Kept casting the wrong spells and my timings were off for rebuffing. Lastly, with boosters in the first 3 spots, they're a quick tap away from the wasd keys.

I tryed playing as a PPU but I use cursor keys ... I found it takes to long to change spell using mouse wheel and when you get anti buffed speed of selecting shelter needs to be instant. Are any of you good PPU's using cursor keys or am I just wierd ?

I use the number pad... I like how the keys are all in-line with each other.
Then i use keys for slots 1-10

i love this thread. im gonna rate it 1 star. all the posters here have included para in slot 1 or close to. "most" of the community gets on it about para and it being lame and people who use shockers are lame and blah blah blah.

Now. my ppu. in no way battle hardened. base psi isnt capped for starters and i dont have the spells i need yet for pvp.

Slots 8/9-10 Boosters ( dependent on situation )

see. no nooby buffs. slots 2 and 3 and bound to q and e. it works a charm. and this is from someone not recognised for being a ppu in the slightest but ask the 6 people who chased me round ind a one night antibuffing using apocs ravs and some good ole fashioned cs loving why they couldnt drop me.

89 base psi. no fire belt. jus my shelter def heal keeping me alive.

thats not a boast just trying to illustrate a point. those first 3 slots are my primes and the one i use mostly. the others are non combat essential.

I try not to use para when I can, there are usually far more important things to be doing like keeping my team alive, rather than trying to hinder the enemy, damage boost is usually enough to get the job done.

And yes I have a soulcluster in the 1st slot. I know it does bugger all in a fight, but it's cool to have your own little mob follow you around all the time (plus you'd be amazed how many people are stupid enough to attack the soulcluster instead of anything else :D )

What belt do you use then Doc? Seems weird that u can take fire from a CS/FA/Rav all at the same time? Unless the tanks just happened to both have X-Ray mods and you've got a nice few con points in resist X-Ray/Fire.

I hate Para too, but I understand PPU's who are even against it using it, you shouldn't have to put yourself at a disadvantage in an attempt to "make a point" or whatever.

I'm a defencive and curative PPU whilst others in my clan were more offencive.
I'd sit at the back buffing/changing to stuff like anti poison / anti db.
With Holy Heal Sanctum permanently up, buffing people.

I don't use group buffs because I prefer to be able to move around, and I prefer to be able to rebuff in specific situations / rebuff single team mates against numerous team mates.

I don't think Belt order matters much on a PPU tbh.
I use mine so that I can use the mouse wheel, being the lazy fecker that I am.

Unless I'm in a tight situation, where I actually do use the number keys.
I instinctively know where all the spells are, because I can touchtype, hense no real need for anything like heal in slot one.

Perhaps i should put it like 1) Heal 2) shelter 3) deflector.. but i'm just too used to that setup, and i don't play my ppu much.

at the time i wasnt useing a belt at all. coulda been xray in the rav as i specced that as any normal monk does. the apoc hurt but it wasnt enough to get me down. that was the funniest bit. i kept dodgeing healing dodgeing healing etc. it was good practice. i might have made a mistake on the cs but not sure but there was one tank with a rav and the apoc from the apu antibuffing. that was van from the one. kinda says alot really :cool:


fire resist is 15 iirc im not gonna bother till i get heavy fire belt. i was using heat 3 at the time tho so it helped.

@bugs. i agree with you mate but in my eyes holy heal and shelter/def are the ppus "weapons" everything else is secondary to that. i dont use para for the simple reason people dont like it. I fucking hate it and it drains mana if it fucks up. its got me or another team mate killed before because i was A. noobish usin it and B. didnt regen pool fast enough.

holy para was swapped out when needed (in slot 10)

although depending on the size of fight, and who your fighting agienst they should change. ppu belt setups are suppose to be pretty dynamic. ie in big fights if your trying to break through an area heal sant is usefull. if your all clusterfucked in one area than its not needed.

When I thought of my setup for my ppu I basically looked at it this way, "What are the most used things in a fight?"

Holy Heal is the most out of all the spells. So that would be the most importent spell. So Holy Heal is my 1st slot

The nexted most used spell is the Para. Becuase ,even though most of you hate it, you normally hear over TeamSpeak or Ventrilo "HEAL" "PARA HIM!!!" "HEAL GOD DAMNIT" So if you use a mousewheel and having those two right next to eachother it is easy to switch back and forth from one another. So Para is my 2nd Slot

Next would have to be the Damage Boost, It's not used as much as para so that would come after the para. So Dmg Boost is my 3rd Slot

After DMG you use the Anti-Para a lot. Yes you use it more then you probably use your DMG boost but with having Anti Para right next to Para you could slip up hit the wrong number or move your mousewheel to far and AntiPara the enemy. Thats not a good thing. So Anti-Para is my 4th slot

What else after Anti Para you would have Anti Dmg boost, its only the right thing to do, so thats my 5th slot.

Now comes the very importent 2 spells that go in either the 6th or 7th slot and that is the Holy Deflector and the Holy Shelter. Most people put the Holy Shelter before Holy Deflector that would be the best to do but I do it the other way around.

My 8th slot depends on what is going on. Most the time I would just keep my Holy Heal Sanct in there or my HOly Cath Sanc but now since well Poof they are gone I dont know what to put there. I will figure that out when I get this game working again.

My 9th slot is the Holy Rezz. It's not used to often unless you are a noob ppu and cannot keep people alive. And since I use my 10th "x" "0" slot for my PSI Booster I can run up on a dead person with my heal out cast it and use my mousewheel and go straight to the rezz and start it.

I don't think it's changed for nc2, but there's a little known fact that the order of your shelter/deflector actualy matters. I did extensive testing in nc1 and found that casting shelter then deflector means your deflector is not working at full efficiency. You'll take a lil more dmg from piercing then you would with just a deflector on. Likewise, casting deflector then shelter will result in a slightly weaker shelter. I usualy do shelter then deflector, because most of my enemies deal energy or fire dmg. But if im somewhere like the chaos caves, I'll reverse the order.

A PPU is supposed to help support in whatever the situation, which is why they have so many fooking spells. But as an example i do:

For OP warring:
1-Para
2-DB
3-H Heal
4-H Shelter
5-H Def
6-Anti Para
7-Anti poison
8-anti db
9-psi booster 3
0-psi booster 3

When i want to give people supports, i change them. That in itself is a technique when you're pressed for time.

normal set up:
1-H heal
2-H shelter
3-H def
4-H sanctum
5-Haz/Heat
6-psi 3
7-melee
8-spy
9-booster
0-booster

As said before, it all depends on where you are going, who you are going with and what you are trying to accomplish.

tbh...it really is just wut feels best for u and wut u can get used to the easiest....like if ppl map their keys for that shit then its goin ot help them how they have their setup a hella lot more than its goin to help u.....all depends tbh
