i found this on a PC Format CD a few weeks ago. tbh this game has taken over a small part of my life :p
it has a nice selection of weapons, it has vehicles (from small boats to buggys to trucks to helicoptors), it has command point based victory conditions, it has radio commands (not that special, but it beats typing mid combat), and it allows up to 100 players per server with minimul fps / ping hits.
i tend to play the jolt.co.uk server (ping of 8, 30-100 people online most UK times). a steady low ping and a good fps in the heaviest combat.
unfortunatly snipers domoinate combat (as seems to be the fasion in FPS's) but there are sniperless servers available for those who feel it imbalances the game too much.
nothing satisfies me more than playing as an engineer, seeing a cocky shopper come over the hill firing its twin chainguns, then firing my stinger surface to air rocket at it to watch it explode mid air :)
if anyone wants to try this gimme a PM and ill log onto the jolt server and play too :)

lol i installed it off the PC format CD :p
and in the last 2 days i have DL'd about 5Gb worth of "files" (all legally of course, please dont edit me they were all legal...)
I have all the other DF games, but the netcode in Joint Ops seems just as bad as it was in DF 1.. still, Novalogic have finally nailed a solid vehicle implementation.

the netcode gives me a ping of 8 when there are 70+ people on with no lag / fps slowdown...
seems fine to me
:edit: ping of 8 is on jolt server, of course different servers have different pings

unfortunatly im in need of a decent size HDD :(
i only have a 40Gb atm lol

I know that feeling only too well, I got a 160GB and a 40GB, 40's used to backup my porn and stuff, 160 has about 60gb Linux partition, leaves me 99GB to play with, of which 56.4GB is currently free, and 5GB on the 40 drive :D Think I need to stop downloading stuff :o

Joint ops kicks ass. I personally Like being a medic or engineer (morters) I need to buy this game though heh :D

i used to play with morters...
i prefer stingers now though :p
hell i used to be an overpowered sniper til i learnt the ways of the engineer :p
installed it, but when it comes to play, major graphic glitches :-/
you need to burn off your graphics chip with a lighter and buy a graphics card :p

last OP was gonna go, happening to be about 30 meters from it in my boat....with my sniper rifle...steady in my hand..
then incomes a helicopter with about 5 bad blokes in...before they managed to run in the OP i sniped 4 of them :p
the last one just had to stick his head out didnt he...to see where the shooting was coming from hehe :p
if it wern't for meh....our team would have lost...great sniping moment for me :P :P :P

is this a decent ATI card or an old one? (i say decent... i do, of course, mean new. i wouldnt classify a card with the driver support ATI has a decent :p)
9600 Pro wiv 256MB Ram, normal RAM/GPU speeds, 1118 or something 3D Mark 2005 points (1300 with moderate overclocking), full DX9 Support, and a really cute fan on the GPU

so not the newest but not exactly an old card either :p
only a fool would buy the newest cards :p 9600 should keep me going for 2 years when I can upgrade it again to another midrange card to keep me going for 2 more years, I swapped it for a geforce4 mx440, god I miss my nvidia :(

i picked up a GF 3 Ti 700 (iirc) for £30 before i upgraded to GF FX 5900 ultra
I was goin for a GF 5700, but on paper the 9600 pro does out power it slightly, not by much mind you, but on an actual computer, sans the paper ATI DONT GOD DAMN WORK THE STUPID POS SOFTWARE [censored] :mad: :mad: :mad:

Actually it's cause I have a massive anime collection :p and japanese tv drama shows <-- those take up alot of room. >_<
don't get me wrong I still purchase anime. I spend like 200-400 a month on anime dvds alone :D
I got the complete hack//sign and hack//twilight on my puter at the moment, before I had the 160 I had to delete my live action sailor moon episodes :'(

It's art to me. It's entertainment. I'd also own a legal copy of an R1 dvd with orginal japanese dialog and subtitles. Also depends on the animation series. I purchased The world of Narue complete 13 eps for 40 dollars. some series have come down where 26 ep series typically always costed 160-180 are now about 60-80ish dollars. These are good years to be Otaku in the US oh yes . ..it's the age of the Otaku!! errr

that makes me wonder .. are there any jungle style combat FPS games that actually contain dangerous wildlife in them? would be great to be slowly snaking up on an enemy and then some wild animal attacks you or you have to rethink your path to avoid an encounter :p

i very much doubt it. unless you count farcry mutants. but... no, screw it.

I want a tribal jungle combat FPS .. where you run around throwing spears, using poison darts you have to make by rubbing on the back of frogs, and using bows and arrows! End of game will be to destroy the white devils >_<
Anyhow Star Trek is just one type of universe. You don't buy any other dvds? Most people that have dvd players buy dvds although some just live on rentals :p I just stick to japanese animation for the most part though I do buy other dvds also. Last dvd I purchased actually was Bubba Ho-tep <-- The king lives!! . .saw it in theatre and everyone was laughing ;) But I guess it's a certain taste, but hey . gotta love bruce cambell

This Joint Ops demo looks like fun. maybe i'll get it as soon as I'm done dling the Halo 2 E3 footage.

GO INTO YOUR GRAPHICS CARD OPTIONS AND TURN ON FORCE FOG DISTANCE!
I cant find an option on the ATI control panel to force fog distance :-/

Pretty much the card I'm using Lexx.
Bare in mind that it is actually a budget card, the 9600 Pro is actually less powerful than the 9500 (non-pro).
It's kinda like the GF6600 FXs, but for the 9x00 range.
Although the 9550 has actually replaced the 9600 Pro as the budget card of choice since it's dedicated to being the budget card of choice....
i updated the demo......and had a few games....then the bloody jolt server disappeared!
bah, anyway, im sean if u see me on the game!

I bought Joint Ops, I play a game called Söldner though (german game). It was bugged to hell when released but now it simply rocks! Joint Ops isn't bad, Söldner is just my type of game.... slower and more tactical.
if i wanted slow and tactical i would play the ranbow 6 series. that bores me.
hames like CS dont do it for me... i play an action game for action :)
